My neighbor is a line manager at Tesla (he runs the Model S) line and he told me they can churn out nearly 1/5 the number of cars in a day compared to the Model 3 lines (1000 per day to their 250 roughly). I need to ask him what the major differences between the two assembly lines are next time....
The irony is he owns TWO Chevy Bolts at home, no Tesla. Around NorCal, if you go to any tech parking lot, in one row you might find 10+ Model 3's, and 3-5 Model S or Model X. Yes they are that popular. We will have one someday, just not this year - predict maybe next year when the Model Y comes out

There is a ~100 car parking garage next to my workplace and there are 3-4 model 3P, 5-6 regular model 3 and some older model S so it’s almost 20% Tesla market share in the garage. If you never left NorCal, you would definitely think EV are super common place Have you checked out Bollinger? If I was in the market for electric SUV I’d check them out for sure. All electric Macan supposedly on the way too. Good times for EV fans |

LOL. I love when people compare glory runs at a drag strip and think it’s repeatable 100% of the time.
On the street, during any impromptu run either from a dig or low-speed up to 110-120 MPH...any car is playing catch up to a Tesla. My 2RS traps more than 20 MPH faster than my Model S, yet under 100 MPH, it jumps out 2-3 car lengths. Every. Single. Time. |

So many options for having fun with this car. With my gasser cars it’s either canyons, or track day, or why didn’t I drive the EV again? (LTW flywheel and stage 2.5 clutch on one car, and solid flywheel and unsprung 3 puck clutch on the other, so stop and go traffic kind of trickier) |

Personally I’m more interested in FSD than more Perfomance. Being able to sleep extra during my commute and en route to arrive and drive at the track is way more valuable than more power than what model 3p offers. |

Being able to sleep 8-10 hours while the car takes me to Chicago or Denver for a weekend trip would be amazing. leave at night, and arrive in the morning refreshed having spent nothing. It would be way better than flying and getting a rental at the destination.

I have a GLC63 on order but can't stop thinking about a Model 3P. It makes the most sense for my commute, but I also kind of want one last hoorah (4.0 V8TT) before going electric...decisions, decisions...

We will all be on the numb electrics soon enough with no going back. Enjoy the golden age/last hurrah of high HP RWD while you can.

If you want one last hurrah - I don't think an SUV is the right call. Just my opinion. Maybe look for something a bit more performance oriented or raw?

What speed was the roll from? The fact that it took the M6 about 8-9 seconds to finally catch up to the M3P says it all. They were going 110MPH+ when the M6 finally caught up but then they had to brake. If this was from a dig it would have taken the M6 even longer to catch it.

Tesla lease rates and residuals are woefully unattractive, similar to Audi's. Quote:
And frankly, improving on 3.2 second 0-60 times is almost silly. I hardly ever go full throttle on TM3P as my passengers find acceleration just too abrupt to enjoy. It also scares and surprises other drivers on the road, since my car does things, and shows up in places, where no-one had expected it to be. This leads to many weird situations where people try to merge right on top of my 3P, because it wasn't there a second ago when they had looked at the side mirrors. a

I posted my run in with my TTRS a few pages back. I set up a few runs with a buddy who had a M3P with aftermarket wheels/tires (noticeably heavier than stock) and a driver who was 100+ pounds more than me. When he not only got me from a dig, but took me to gapple-bees from a roll? I was sold on this M3P and I knew it meant business. That TTRS was a beast and in two years of ownership I have never really lost to anything like that. Maybe a 1/2 or 1/4 of a car....but this Tesla puts bus lengths on almost anything from a dig or low roll (10-40MPH)
