The Model 3 Performance is now approximately the same price as a AWD M340i. That's like M3 performance for M340i money. Oh boy...

Go for it man. A friend just sold his 700hp e63 wagon to get a 3 Perfomance and he is loving the car. The only area the 63 was superior is 80+ mph highway pulls, but that wasn’t his use case very often. He’s loving the steering and tech and 0-80mph acceleration, like everyone else who has made the move over. |

I've got both the Model 3 Performance and the M3. Both have their own ups and down. The model 3 is definitively faster on the acceleration all thanks to the instant torque. The M3 is just as fast but handles better and built better thanks to BMW quality control. I just love the simple interior of the Model 3 but also love all the carbon interior of the M3. Both cars are great and I will keep them for a very long time.

I have a G30 540, stumble on this thread, have to say if I have somewhere to charge consistently (NYC, my garage is 10 minutes walking and they just start to add electric charge this year) would have seriously consider Model 3 Performance or Model S
Or had I known G20 3 series is almost as big as E39 5 series probably just should have wait a bit and gotten M340i |

I ran a P3d this morning from 70 to 110 on my stage 2 93 octane map and he pulled at first and it took me 40 mph to become dead even with him. Pretty quick car im impressed.

It's REALLY quick up to about 110 mph - after that, notsomuch. Translation: In typical street situations, it's all but untouchable. |

Switched to Tesla Model 3 Performance
Hi guys,
After ten years of loyal BMW ownership I switched to Tesla. I’ve owned two E9x M3s, an X5M, and a 550i GT. I was also in the market for either an M3, M4, or X5M. But, I just got tired of all the service visits costing thousands of dollars, and I simply lost interest. I test drove a Tesla Model 3 AWD in early July. A few seconds after pulling out of the dealership, I realized why the gasoline engine is being phased out. There was no reason to spend another minute in a car with tons of buttons that requires regular dealer visits for expensive routine maintenance and service. The electric car eliminates thousands of parts and potential issues, all in a tight package under a simple warranty. These thoughts raced through my mind during my test drive. But the suspension seemed not as great, and the car was more comparable to, say, a 4 Series M sport than an M3. I then asked to drive the Model 3 Performance. It was comparable in so many ways to the M4. However, it had Porsche-Turbo-like acceleration and ungodly grip like race prepped AWD. The car was telepathic. I ordered one and got it two weeks ago. The Model 3 Performance has everything I wanted in a car. It isn’t just fast, it is also extremely peaceful and takes the stress out of driving in traffic. Charging has not been an issue for me; I’ve even found lots of places to charge for free. Each day that passes by, I learn how to drive more efficiently in order to save battery charge, yet I still hit high speeds and have moments of crazy acceleration. I did the math, and in five years I will save close to $49k compared to the ownership experience I had with my old BMWs. If any of you are toying with the idea of a Model 3 Performance, I suggest you at least take a test drive. You may end up loving it. |

I just traded in an M3 after 11.5 years of ownership and had spent about $3400(excluding fuel) over that time |

At this point, after nearly 8 months of ownership those earlier concerns have disappeared. Are the panel gaps on my Model 3 as tight as those on the Audis? No, but they're extremely consistent. The interior is built very solidly, despite what the Tesla shorters and naysayers would have you believe. Everything feels good, the things that move do so with precision, and nothing flexes or feels flimsy. Most everyone who's been in the car sees quality and luxury, and that's what I see as well. |
