It has a hollow tone, nice highs and bass, light in the midrange. That hollow sound gives it a unique howl. Put it on and enjoy.

I understand this is old, however I would like to know how the welds are holding up for anyone whom repaired their MPE.

Got one coming in soon.

Thanks

I had my MPE installed in December 2011 on my E92 without any other exhaust mods. I've also been one of the lucky ones without any cracks and it sounds as good as the day it was installed. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Curious, anyone know if Ceramic powder coating the exhaust prevent the MPE from cracking?

Started to ear a vibration between 2000 and 3000rpm in first gear a week ago, I thought it was a loose bolt or something so i went to the muffler shop who installed it on my car and to our big surprise the muffler was craked on both sides at the same place and in the same maner. I guess it is safe to say that it's a weakness on these mufflers!

I knew that inconel was really tin on the MPE but never I would've thought that it could cause something like this! This exhaust is by far the most expensive I ever bought and it seems like it's not better then any other! Anyway I just sent those pictures to Tisher and I'll see what will happen from there, I'm confident they'll continue to offer me a great service like before!

Is there anyone else who had this issue with the same exhaust, let me know what you think about it!? Here are some pictures of both cracks on both sides, you can see that it cracked in a T shape at the same place on both side!!

Hate to say it but it happens A LOT, and for the money, its shouldn't happen so much, warranty should replace it for you no?

No, won't stop it from cracking.

Might delay it by a little bit, but ceramic coating is not going to hold the piece together.

Anyone truely concerned about future cracking of their MPE V1 should have it modified like BMW did to the V2.

Drill a hole to vent the pressure in the cans?

The holes in the MPE 2 are connected (channeled) by pipes to reduce the pressure .
That's why the MPE 2 will NOT crack .

It is strengthening the muffler...drill 2 holes per side and install 3/8? tubing between the holes and weld them up BEFORE they crack.

doing an ACM mod on the MPE defeats the purpose. The only way to keep the MPE long-run is to keep an eye out for cracks and have them repaired as soon as they get too long/deep!

The way how you describe the issue it makes it sound pretty simple .

Have you ever weld on really thin Inconel ?
