Dct Problem Help

Okay so recently ive been noticing a problem when driving in D. Never does this in M Mode.
I'll have it in drive and sometimes it'll not automatically drop down to D1 when coming to a stop.
As you seen in the photo, im completely stopped at a stop sign and its locked on D7.
Happened every once in awhile but now its almost every stop... very annoying because i have to put it in neutral and then drive again to get it to D1.
Sometimes when coming to a stop it'll stay in whichever gear its in and make a huge clunk noise while stopped as if its trying to downshift or get into a gear but cant.
Anyone else experience this before? Or know what could be causing this?

Yes I have. Its caused by low fluid. BMW didn't lie about the exacting procedure to filling / topping off the fluid. Check for a wet gasket, with is a sign of a leak. Good Luck!!!!

I topped of the fluid level, and keeping an eye on it. I'm going to perform the filter change (side and bottom) and replace the plastic oil pan. I have been told that the plastic pan tends to warp, causing the leak.

BTW the actual cause is air getting trapped in the solenoids, from the aeration of the low fluid.

How did u top it off..? Isn't it essentially topped off from under the car..?

The DCT fluid is checked and filled when the Transmission Temperature is between 30-50 degrees Celsius.

I have found the cause to this problem....

"Sometimes when coming to a stop it'll stay in whichever gear its in and make a huge clunk noise while stopped as if its trying to downshift or get into a gear but cant.

This is due to a internal component failure. I've in fact removed 3 different DCT's and found this issue. If your able to catch it in time the mechatronic wont get permanently damaged. There is a way to test for this condition and further steps can be taken to permanently fix the failure from happening.

Have you also seen it happen for cars, like me, who had the DCT filter/sump changed and fluid refilled?

For me I have experienced this 3 times and it's during initial drives and the car hasn't warmed up yet and I go over some small speed bumps <15-20 mph and my gears skip 2, 4, 6 after I get passed the bump

Then I pull over, turn off and on the motor, I'm all back to normal

Its possible that you could be experiencing this type of internal failure. First you need to make sure other parts are in good condition. for example your drive shaft flex joint, center bearing, engine & transmission mounts and also check for DCT codes and Updates. once you ruled all these possibilities is when you should remover your DCT and perform and internal inspection. this needs to be done by a professional thats had experience with these types of transmission.

You need a pump and short piece of hose for the bottle. The fill hole is on passenger side. Fill hole(top of passenger side of trans) not drain hole (lower of passenger side of trans). The pump I attached a pic of actually screws into pentison trans fluid bottle. Pump it in until it starts to over flow when up to proper temp.

Anyone else have this issue...? Issue is still occurring.. might just buy DCT transmission service kit for ECS Tuning. And hope that fixes the problem.

*****UPDATE******* figured out the issue. The issue lies with tire circumference and rotating speeds per mile. I had to replace my rear tires and went with a slightly wider size to match the front which were wider and different profile. I replaced the rears with new 4s's, and the problem went away automatically. I originally had 265/30-19 r 255/30-19f, and replaced the rear with 275/30-19. Who knew that it had a great effect on the Dct operation.
