FIRST Sedan M3 - Megan Racing Performance Exhaust

I'm the first in the world with it on the sedan

The Story;
One of my friends had just bought a brand new 2011 M3 and wanted to install exhaust on it 600 miles into owning the car[/URL] we drove down to Megan Racing Inc. in LA to take a look at their very competitively priced performance exhaust.

Being strict on owning a well known brand name like Eisenmann or Meisterschaft I kept quite, and kept my mind open. So I went with him to see with my own eyes what was really going down over there at Megan Racing and to see if their product was worth the money. Experience about exhaust; ever since I broke-in my car In i've been on the forums doing my research, watching videos, calling shops like IND, Eisnmann, Meisterschaft, Gintatni, Agency Power who have amazing products that I would love to own. Asking around to find the perfect exhaust out there that would fit my needs took me a long time, but I can tell you that I did my research. After tuning my car it made even more sense to pair a performance exhaust system with it to really feel the gains.

After the long but fun drive we arrived at around 4:00PM, a clean one story office place.
We called in advanced and my friend was ready to make the purchase on the exhaust.
We un-boxed the exhaust completely to make sure that the exhaust was what we expected.

The cleanest welds I have ever seen! A lightweight performance exhaust that is suspiciously similar to the Agency Power exhaust that I had seen a few days back on another friends M3.
In-fact the exhaust system looked so good I had to pick one up right then and there!

The only problem was that they only designed this exhaust system for the E92 (coupe).
I was told that It would stick out 2" and wouldn't look good at all. I convinced them that I
could make it happen and that I would write them a review in return for letting me make the purchase. $600 the exhaust was mine. When in comparison to other 2,000+ exhaust that don't even come with connecting pipes wow was this a deal! The connecting pipes that came with this exhaust were so light I was amazed.

Installation and Fabrication;
The next morning after a long but very fun night my friend [with the E92 coupe that made the purchase as well] had called me and told me he was in LA getting the exhaust installed at Speedway Muffler [18963 Labin Ct #C2, Rowland Heights CA - talk to Rody] and that they knew what they were doing. It took them 30 minutes to install his exhaust and they were apparently very considerate and gentle with his car. So I said what the heck I'll be there in a few.

Jumped in the car with the exhaust in the trunk here I go ahhaha couldn't wait to get the beast installed but didn't know what to do about the conversion E92 to E90 and those extra 2". 2" may not seen like a lot but it's exhaust tips .. 4 of them didn't want to look like a Honda rice cooker.

I pulled in and explained the situation and they were more than confident that they could take care of the problem. They installed the pipes saw that It stuck out measured 2" in and 1" up so they would adjust the exhaust accordingly.

They had the car up on the lift and me up on ladder and I was calling the shots and tell them exactly how I wanted it. Then they cut the tips off and some how got rid of 2" ... HOW? was this even possible the pipes are straight they had a very dynamic swoop to them. This I thought would be a challenge, I guess not. It looked amazing!
For Rody and his boys over there at Speedway Muffler.

So after they made the cuts did the adjustments and welded the tips back on it looked amazing. I never liked that aftermarket look it just looks ghetto and doesn't look like it belongs to the car. But this looks factory, it looked clean, it .. looked ... SEXY!

It took about an hours to do all the installation and fabrication of the exhaust, and $200.00 later I was the happiest man alive. It took me two damn years to get exhaust?! finally my car looks amazing lets start it up;

Turning it on with the aftermarket exhaust on for the first time was epic. I wasn't expecting such a clean sounding exhaust. It a weird feeling when you start your car for the 1 billionth time and all of a sudden it sounds 100 times better. This is the first aftermarket exhaust I've installed on any of my cars so I'm assuming it's all relative but I couldn't be happier with the fit and finish, sound, and performance gains [with tune] of this exhaust.

First stop gas station; rev'd the car on the way in like a teenager revs his first car sounded really good in my opinion and everyone at the gas station agreed. even the Indian guy in his red masserati

Drove it home to show my friends and they all love the exhaust. Called a few friends over to take a look. Pretty soon we were taking photos and revving our engines. C63, M5, M3, M6, and my M3.

HAHAH I WIN louder then all of them when revved, keep in mind very very little drone and it's quite when you need it to be.
My friend with the Silverstone E92 who was mentioned above will also be writing a review and posting pictures and videos
Again sorry I don't have more photos; they're on the way..

YouTube Video;
First 35 seconds full warm
After 35 seconds 1/2 warmed

Sounds great man have mine sitting in a box (haven't even got my car yet). I'm currently talking with r&d at Megan Racing about producing an xpipe with similar quality and great pricing.

Megan Racing has a really good product and I'm surprised that more people don't have their products. The quality is phenomenal. Xpipes would be something that I would be interested in installing on my car simply for performance gains but the sound of the exhaust with my current setup is PERFECT.

Yes, I do plan on it. I'm currently recording all of the videos on my iPhone which simply doesn't do justice. There is little drone if any. Drone; when you drop your car in 7th at 60 and floor it when you hear that unique hum from the stock setup is what you're going to get from Megan Racings exhaust but louder otherwise I can't really spot crazy drone..

Basically there IS drone, just not much.
Hopefully it'll be loud enough on camera to give you an idea.

Next friday the in-car videos should be up - keep an eye open

wow, fantastic sound at a fraction of the price...good choice, and know what? after all this is said and done, the power gains are probably equally as small (or large) depending on your perspective of how important a catback is, versus other more expensive units.

Sounds great. Above all, very cost effective.

p.s. Although, you seem to now be living in Cali, your car still has Ontario, Canada license plates? Could be an excuse for cops to pull you over and inspect the exhaust.

You can always count on Speedway for quality exhaust works!

I had a nice chat with your buddy @ MFest this past Saturday, I recommended him to Speedway BTW!

Glad to hear you found a great exhaust system for a great price. There really is no need to spend $2k-3k on an axle-back. Enjoy!

I've been considering this exhaust and will most likely purchase it this spring.

An interesting tidbit - if you order the titanium tips, according to the pictures they are riveted in (just like the OEM tips). So in theory it should be possible to remove them, re-drill them 1-2" inwards and make them perfect for a sedan installation. I'll post a DYI when I get to it, just a question of cooperating weather...

How about an update? I bought a megan exhaust for my subaru STI a couple years ago and the black paint BURNED OFF. Almost caused a fire under my car. The exhaust material inside also blew out chunks within a year and that caused it to drone A LOT.

How is this thing holding up?

Thanks!

There are a tons of people purchase the exhaust last year and still have no problem or issue regarding weld or fitment. other than customizing the exhaust to put on a E90...
