I wanted to share this because I have seen a lot of conflicting pictures on how the AutoSolutions shifter should be installed . This is from Ronald at AutoSolutions . I did my installation yesterday (pain in the ass!) and all the info I could find was wrong or was not complete so this helped a lot in regards to how the shifter should be placed in the car and direction of shifter and shift rod . I’ve seen 4 posts where the shifter itself was backwards in the car and people complaining the shifter is not centered after install . Hope this helps somebody Name: AB4B448B-6F79-469B-9490-085FB8CB3C17.png

It probabaly took all said and done 3.5 hours . I was taking my time and cleaning stuff as I went . I was also on a lift and I am a mechanic. I’m sure it could be done faster. It’s not a fun job though with where it is located and the limited access . I also installed his optional front bushings .

I think I am going to order one of these bad boys with the upgraded ATA bushings. Thinking of doing a 17% reduction. Ronald is great to chat with!!

Anyone here have a 17% reduction or close to? 15%-20% was Ronald's recommendation so I thought I would split the difference with the added bonus of 17 being a prime number

Cheers,

Cheers,
I think you commented on my thread. I can not recommend this enough. I went with 15%. 17% would be just fine. It’s simply incredible.

I want this !! I really want to get past this 1st to 2nd notchiness...ive done, fluid, motor mounts and tried the ZCP shift knob....all helped, but can be much better.

Actually the best thing I have found is to slowly coax the shifter into postion and it settles itself nicely into place, but sometimes you want to shift quickly !

Joining the ASS fanfare. Just installed and it's simply brilliant. I can't stress enough how fantastic this upgrade it. From 3 to 2 was always my nemesis on the track. This is a marked improvement.

Kit:
20% reduction
95A bushing upgrade
6 mil added height (for F10 knob)

I have 0 regrets with the 95A bushing upgrade as this car is dual duty and I'm slowly upgrading everything to solid bushings. There is some vibration when WOT on the shifter, but my hands on generally on the wheel and not resting on the knob so it doesn't bother me. When cruising around town I don't think there's any difference.

Got my AutoSolutions Short Shifter installed last week and just picked the car up today. I got an 18% reduction (per invoice), stock height with upgraded 80A bushings. It certainly is smooth and precise!! Way less slop and much easier to get the shifts right. Have not had a chance to drive it in anger yet, but I would assume it will be awesome.

I could likely have handled a little more reduction but not much. If I had to do it again, I would probably go with ~20-25% instead.

Cheers,

I've been reading the forums, googling, chatting with Turner/ECS/Rogue Engineering and looking at all the shifter carrier bushings and shifter arm bushings available to replace along with my AS SSK that i ordered.
Ideally, the goal is to have no NVH, yet a more durable bushing set, not sure thats possible.

This is what i came up with, feel free to correct me if I am wrong..

Carrier Bushings:
1) Teflon Shifter Bushing (ECS) - NVH added
2) Rogue Engineering Oval Delrin Carrier Bushing Kit - NVH added
3) AutoSolutions 80A and 95A Polyurethane Bushings - NVH added
4) AutoSolutions 50A (new offering) Polyurethane Bushings - minimal NVH according to Ronald

Shifter Arm Bushing

1) Turner Polyurethane Shifter Arm Bushing - NVH added

It seems like the only bushing that will not introduce any additional NVH is the OEM rubber bushings.

Does anybody have any experience with a 50A polyurethane bushing? I wonder how much different it would be from a OEM rubber bushing (~35A).
This was the first i heard about it and not much information on google either.

Seems like you're over thinking it. Just go OEM bushings and move on. What are you expecting to gain with 50A?

I probably am overthinking it a bit. I was hoping for something better than OEM to eliminate slop/'keep it tighter' as well long term durability.

Nothing meets all the requirements. nvh trade offs as you migrate away from OEM. Personally, I have 95A and experience no problems, slight vibration on the shifter during WOT. But I've been converting all bushing / mounts to solid aluminum over the past 12 months. So, I'm not sensitive to the car moving more sports car > luxury.

I have delrin carrier bushings and turner 70A arm bushing, the NVH with stock shifter is minimal.
I'll be installing AS short shifter this weekend, I'll let you know how much worse it got, if at all.

Seriously going to look into getting the AS SSK for my car after researching it a bit. Problem is finding a good shop to have it installed. What is a fair price for an install at a shop? I'm in NYC.

I've installed the shifter this weekend. Man, is that a pain in the ass haha. Removing the original one went pretty easy, I didn't even have to lower the transmission but I have an ESS xpipe so it may be different with the x moved forward. I also didn't remove the carrier since I had all the bushings already replaced (delrin front and poly 70A rear).
Installation of the new one was a pain on every step, starting with locking the coupler with that small pin and finishing with squeezing the 6 bolts that hold the basket (there's like 1.5 cm clearence ).

Driving impressions - this thing is out of this world. So precise, so solid and crisp I can't even describe it. Very satisfied. Throw reduction in my case doesn't seem too agressive but it is noticable with almost no extra effort - I don't care how much % is it, but it feels perfect to me.

NVH - I was trying really hard to hear it, but I couldn't. There is minimal whine audible at lower speeds, which was present with the bushings alone. Now it's maybe a bit louder, but gets almost immediately droned out by exhaust and road noise. For reference I have a HFC xpipe and Billy Boat rear section - probably something comparable to test pipes and a mild/sport exhaust in terms of volume.
The shifter has a bit more vibration in some rpm range, but it isn't bad at all.
Maybe the fact that the bushings have been installed about 1.5 years and over 10k km ago and I bought the shifter used has something to do with it, maybe all the parts have already "broken in" or something and that's why I don't get any unpleasant sensations, but I definitely recommend the setup I have

Just got my kit installed with 20% reduction, 10mm increase in height and 70A bushings. Height and throw are perfect. Driving around, it really reminds me of the shifter on the GT350. Very mechanical. No noticeable vibration unless you touch the shifter. Only complaint is shifting into 3rd is a bit notchy; takes a bit of effort to get it in. But the car is due for a transmission fluid change, I think some D4 ATF would do some good.

My reduction is only 7%. I actually prefer the throw length to be close to stock.

It's mainly the rifle-bolt feel I'm after.

Just an added note for those seeking the best shift feel for their F22 cars.

I've tried this shift kit with a stock knob, a ZHP knob, and an M Performance knob and I found that the the M Performance knob pairs amazingly well with the shift kit. It gives you the easiest, smoothest shifts and has a more connected, mechanical feel.
