Thanks

The original owner was on this forum and he said he found it at a dealer in Virginia. So I guess either someone spec'd the car and then backed out of the deal or the dealer spec'd it that way.

There was one in South Carolina. Blue. Ordered by German engineer at Bosch plant. Of course German guy would order it that way... : ). I think he moved back to Germany and was on the market. I remember in in Virginia and wondered if same one since these are truly rarest of the rare and the purest version of the e90 m3. They are hard to sell sadly everyone is into the gadgets and luxury over performance but like Van Gogh not being appreciated in his time these unicorns will be the rarest and most special ones in my humble opinion. Maybe they don't bring the big bucks but they bring the utmost respect and admiration from me for those that spec'd or bought them that way. Well done and a salute to you.

Yes. Basically 6MT no nav cars are also special. Heated seats don't matter since they really don't add eight. No shame there. Just speed cloth best for performance driving. Grippy and they stay cool unlike leather. Manual seats lighter and little more headroom for helmet too. So lots of love for 6MT no nav guys too!

Agreed. If you look back at the E46 cars with similar spec they go for a premium over the loaded up cars. We are going to start getting into a period soon where the enthusiast are looking for the S65 cars and they will prefer the unicorns over the gadget cars. We will have no trouble selling them when and if that time comes.

Every dealer says that about every car someone tries to trade in. Simple tactic to trick you into accepting a lowball offer.

Yep. And also, a BMW dealer is the LAST place you want to take cars like these. They could care less about speed cloth, unicorns or strippers and what their real value is. They don't know their assholes from a hole in the ground.

The e46 M3's with manuals go for a premium, for sure. But that's because the alternative is the problematic SMG.

Not a stripper but rare... I think there are only one or two Tanzanite Blue E9Xs in the US, it would be cool to find the other one .

Yes and no. Dealers do want a variety of cars to draw in more customers, but something with a very narrow range of appeal is risky for them since it could sit unsold for quite a while (and they may have to eventually unload it at an auction). The kind of person looking for the stripped-out M3 is unlikely to start their search at dealerships, nor do they want to pay dealer markup.

A patient private sale would get decent money, I think.

Yes. There are few people that truly appreciate or "get" why these unicorns are so special. However they are so rare that there will still be a desireable because there will be a few more people than there are cars. They just have to be advertised to fans. Just sitting at used car lot not going to work. My friend had e90 6MT 335i no options except HK and M Sport. Beautiful no nav dash. He put in BMWCCA and guy from Arizona bought it that week at asking price.

Yes. When I look for cars, I use -loaded filter to exclude them from google and eBay. Yes slicktop mt e46 M3s are the most desireable now. But I think it's even more critical in the e90 because many felt it had gotten too big and heavy. Ordering it loaded only made this worse. The unicorns with manual seats, no sunroof, no edc, 18" wheels, no power folding mirrors were the lightest versions while still having the awesome V8. The MT was lighter too.

I love my luxury options. 2011 e90 6mt, black, 19 inch wheels. Nav and moonroof (which i use) and all luxury options except premium audio and I love it. It's definitely an awesome sports car with many creature comforts. The best of both worlds in my opinion.

I agree with most of this. What I will add is that I think we will really start seeing a huge increase in demand for STOCK M3s. I know, I will wait for the tasteful modifications argument that doesn't hinder value or desire, any car can be returned to stock, etc. In my view, the stock examples will be the real gem among the desirable M3s. It happens with every desirable car out there (S2000, Supra, E46 M3).

I grew up driving B13 '91-'94 Nissan Sentra SE-Rs. A 1991 SE-R was my first car 26 years ago. I also raced them in NASA/SCCA. I would pay for the moon for one if 1) I could find one and 2) it was stock.

Yes. No such thing as tasteful mods. It just means modded to my taste not yours. I also had 1993 Sentra SE-R. My first new car 24 years ago. Loved it! Also autocrossed back in the day. Great point. The stock M3s will be more desireable too.
