Oh look... another exhaust thread!
Hey guys, just bought a 2011 alpine white m3 with ess 625 supercharger kit and innotech valved exhaust. This is my second m3, but never had a supercharger or valved exhaust. First off, the car is amazing. The acceleration puts a smile on my face, almost as much as the exhaust tone!
HOWEVER. This thing is loud. Too loud. And i need to get away from the valved exhaust with the supercharger. Obviously the car has no cats (if the EPA is reading, this is simply satire), and i need a freeflowing exhaust. I do NOT want any drone as part of me buying this car was so my wife and i could take road trips when she wanted to, and i need to be able to drive this for long distances. Any suggestions?! Short version: Bought supercharged M3, valved innotech exhaust is too loud. With the valves closed, the exhaust is perfect, except i CANT have a valved exhaust with a supercharger. Give me ideas for exhaust setups that i can use to get away from the valved setup. THANK YOU! Last edited by Kwike92M3; 03-10-2020 at 11:11 PM.. |

I would look into this, but i need to get away from the valved setup. Akropovic is on the top of my list, but ive read it can be a bit loud. Maybe the akropovic first, then resonators?

Don’t think so the x pipe is what makes it loud . My valved armytrix exhaust wasn’t really loud at all paired with my oem x pipe . Sounded perfect for daily driving . But When I paired it with a catless x pipe with no resonators it’s extremely loud. Very similar to the ipe f1 .so In other words if you keep your x pipe how it is and just switch exhaust it’s still going to be pretty loud .

What about an Eisenmann Sport muffler as a starting point? IMO it's one of the better and less obnoxious options with a high-flow x-pipe.
You never did say what the full x-pipe config looks like. Skip to 1:00 for the good stuff. |

+1 on the Eisenmann- I regret the day that I sold it.
My personal favorite setup so far has been a quad resonated ARH long tube headers mated to the IPE but removed it as it was touching every bump in the country. I am now on a Gintani quad resonated x-pipe as the catless IPE was too obnoxious with valves closed and opened. Good luck with the quest!

I have an ex employee of mine that now owns an exhaust shop. I am considering just letting him build a setup for me. I dont see custom exhaust setups on these cars very often, im wondering if thats for a reason. |

This ^. I have ESS X-Pipe with HFC and its 2 resonators. Then the Corsa after. Its a little loud on cold start, but then settles down to a little above stock at idle, nothing crazy. I feel the loudest/best sounding range of the Corsa is from 3-5k rpms but its very easy to make quiet when needed, I usually short shift under 3k till i get out of my neighborhood.

Yes, I did what wfdeacon88 did in this thread. Looks great, waiting on warmer weather to paint the cans too.

Yes, it sounds great. I get compliments from everybody at the track. Even people driving new GT3's.

Here's mine with a cold start delete (Alpine Stage 2). Very stealthy when needed, but perfect level of clean screaming when desired. |
