Carly App vs. Schwaben Foxwell NT510

Does anyone have experience with both the Carly app and Schwaben NT510? Assuming costs are not an issue, which would you recommend if you were to only purchase one?

I have both. There is some overlap between the devices, but I think the differences are more important. For example, if you want to doing some light coding or change the size of your battery, then Carly is great. If you want to replace control modules, reset the steering angle sensor, reset battery adaptions, run DCT clutch adaptions, then the NT510 is great. You can also add packages to the NT510 for other car manufacturers for about $60 each. I have Ford and GM on my NT510 for use with other vehicles in my family.

Thanks! Very helpful. I do like the ability of foxwell to be used with other cars. Great feature even if it costs another fee.

Not sure how much coding I would do with Carly but like the idea it can be stored in your glove box for convenience.

I guess in the end, Foxwell has more diagnostic abilities while Carly more coding.

I ended up buying Carly more so for the convenience..,waiting for it to arrive. Hope it serves well and doesn't brick my computer.

I have both. Bought Carly first and it's ok for what it does. Some of the light coding features are neat. I'm not a fan of their interface or connection.

Foxwell is much better for diagnostic and has resets/adaptations

Thinking about investing in a scanner like the NT510 too.

Anyone know where's the best place to purchase ?

+1. Carly is like code reading for dummies. Very simple interface and good to read codes. If you want to reset throttle adaptations and other live data off the car, the Schwaben NT510/Foxwell is much better.

As for battery registration....that's another whole ball of wax and another thread dedicated to that. My personal experience is that both do NOT work for battery registrations.

On a side note, did anybody ever figure out if there is a true difference between the Schwaben NT510 & the foxwell NT510? Or was it strictly cosmetic difference and not software?: I'm looking to buy one and can get one for about $70 cheaper than the other.

That's a big difference in price, especially since everything online points to them being identical. Is this brand new or new vs used?

Link or info to where you're seeing one for ~50% off?

I misunderstood. I saw that the Foxwell was ~$130 so when you said $70 price difference I was thinking off of the $130! Was like 'Just get it even if there is minor differences"

Lol! Yeah $130 vs $199. If it was $70 I would buy no questions asked!

This looks suspiciously similar to the official Carly OBD II adapter I bought, but for $13 https://www.thrifter.com/kobra-produ...ner-and-reader
