It was about time someone posted the DIY

Yes, $200 from a vendor is not much, but for people that have gone through the -massive- hassle of getting coding to work, this is the next thing to do!

This flash is the 90ms shift timing that will burn out a retail model DCT?

I keep reading about three different levels existing for these tunes. From what I've gathered the default 5773 is 90ms. Not sure what the newer 7848442 is set to.

To slow it down, can't you just use S4 instead of S5?
Are there ZB numbers for 100ms?

I'm not convinced that these third party tuning companies have actually modified the firmware.

Furthermore, do we know the ZB 7848442 is in fact GTS software/profile? I find it odd that a true GTS would default to D2 driving mode.

I just flashed it and so far I love it! The only issue is that the auto start stop feature isn't working. Does anyone know how to fix that?

Check the IHKA module code it with a blank man/ or default code it.

No luck. I think the firmware doesn't support it. I would like to do a binary comparison of the various flashes to see if in the 2011MY extra code was added for aSS and if it can be transplanted into the GTS flash or vice versa.

Quoting myself: did it this past weekend during a track day.

It is a night and day difference. OEM GTS software FTW!! I can use D1 now when I want to put around and it's much smoother than the old D3 yet is just as fast.

Driving it on the track it is also significantly better. I thought the old software was pretty damn fast already, but this is just icing on the cake

By the way, I am not concerned about this being bad for the tranny. BMW used the same model tranny for both the GTS and the regular M3, so why worry?

GTS utilizes an additional cooler and higher fluid capacity. Haven't experienced any negatives from the track guys though as far as longevity.

No idea, haven't seen any failures (outside of warranty) to date.

Does anyone have a battery power supply they like to use while flashing?

I read that for another vehicle BMW recommended at least a 45A capable supply for this.

Good to know, thank you!

Has anyone compared ZB No. 7845773 and 7848442?

edit: FWIW 7848442 did not work out well for this individual - DCT Update Fail

Got it sorted! Just needed to update the files in: C:\EC-APPS\NFS\DATA\GDATEN
With those that came with the updated daten files.

Thanks all for the helpful instructions!
