Looks pretty cool! Does this have the laminova core intercooler like some other E46 twinscrew kit had? I thought those were pretty cool!

In normal operation, the IATs are within 30 - 40 degrees of ambient temperature. Because of the electronic bypass design, you'll actually see the IAT drop once you get into boost as it gets air from the supercharger instead of from the plenum inlet. I will follow up on this with some logs of IAT next week. |

That is not on a dyno jet in sae. One dyno jet dyno in sae was posted and showed around 500 rwhp if I remember correctly. The big advantage is the low end -- it did 300 lbs rwtq at 2500 rpm. That is impressive on one of these motors.

I am extremely interested, but it all hinges on the price for me. Technology aside, unless it comes close to the price of a ESS vt2-595, I can't see me spending the money on it, as I can get the ess installed brand new for under $10k

You get what you pay for. Centrifugal is cheaper to make, cheaper to fabricate hardware for, and cheaper to tune. It also delivers less torque in the rpm range in which you spend 95% of your driving time. The ESSVT595 won't equal the torque the Harrop stage 1 makes at 2500 rpm until 6000 rpm. Centrifugals are great -- I have had one, but they are nothing like a turbo or positive displacement supercharger in terms of power delivery. If it is all you can afford, though, get one. Still a lot more power than stock and if you wind it up, it will go pretty well.

I've been holding off on a kit for almost a year due to various circumstances, including potential turbo kits and positive displacement SC's, but from early indications on this kit, it may be cost prohibitive for many of us.

But eaton/roots type blowers can also last a real long time.

Each supercharger is dynoed by Harrop on a supercharger dyno, and has a factory fill of oil with recommended service intervals of 100,000 miles. The manifold on this kit is a fantastic piece, have a look at some of these cutouts from SEMA this year: http://www.bpmsport.com/blog/labs/20...kit-sema-2014/ Fortunately not much higher. The IC setup is very efficient and also does not block the factory oil cooler. The other kits on the market do block air to the factory oil cooler, causing an increase in oil temperatures that this kit will not see due to lack of airflow. The front mount heat exchanger on this kit mounts directly above the factory oil cooler, and even with a close inspection you can not tell that anything is different than stock. |
