- Custom Carbon Fenders with integrated vents

That's definitely more than my entire annual track budget worth of parts, hope to see this track build on track sometime soon.

Awesome experience with driftflo. Can’t wait to get this on the car with a fresh DCT tune from Epic and updated engine tune for both 91 and 100 octane.

Two grail pieces in the span of 24 hours. Huge thanks to Unrivaled auto for importing these m24 door cards. Just waiting on Karbonius doors and bimmerworld trunk and then she goes under the knife.

Transmission #2 and track day #2 test…only had one chance for a hot lap between wet seshies, so the driving can improve for sure. SC3 lap record at the ridge for sure though (my friends and I have a bit of a joke going where we just post “lap records” for random tires…another friend just got the PSS record ).

And a couple photos with the new wheels and tires: 18x10 and 19x12, with 275/35 and 325/30 Goodyear Supercar 3 tires.

Btw I miss my M3 fam. The corvette fam is uh, well, you know…

Damn the boomer crew isn't into deep aero and kinematics conversations for track prep

That's flying! Every time I see in-car of that last sector at the Ridge I'm blown away, such insane elevation!! I need to make the trip up there sometime. Man, that mid-engine corner exit grip is real... Good way to break in the new DCT! Haha

Don't know if this has been shared previously but a buddy of mine sent me this, pretty crazy seeing that caster angle and toe settings.

I was getting an alignment after adding SPL rear LCA Bearings & Powerflex Trailing Arm Bushings. I decided to add a smidge of Toe-Out up front and increased my caster to +9* from 8.5* before my event next weekend at Sonoma.

So nice Steve!
I wish they made nice interior CF door panels like that for the E90.

Excited to continue seeing your car come together.
The car is going to be even more of a weapon!

Yea you should definitely come up! It’s a great track. I also need to drive down to California next winter to do some tracks days.

The exit grip is awesome, and when the rear goes on this thing it is much quicker! I love mid-engine, and this car actually has a smidge of a percentage more rear weight distribution than a current GT3.

I had to do breakin on it again before tracking!… for two weeks before this track day, just driving around for no damn reason. Annoying.

Also note the slick tire sizes are 240mm and 270mm staggered

I'm luvin' your C8 - especially with the 325 rears. Nice and meaty.. One day soon - maybe I'll buy one. Everything comes to he who waits. How are the stock brakes on track?

Yeah George Z (Red R8 and E90) has been trying to get me up there for a while, I just don't have the insane dedication to towing 10+ hours like him haha he's at Thunderhill more than me and I'm only 2hrs away. I'm sure I'll make it up once by next year.

Stock brakes are fine with track pads, girodisc rotors, at least with esc/tc off. I have heard the brakes get overheated and wear poorly when people drive on the aids. The carbotech xp12 front pads appear to wear pretty quickly, but at least they are cheap and seem to not be harsh on the rotors (no good options except cobalt, but they are sooo expensive). Rears wear slowly. There is zero pedal feel because bbw, but it’s fine after a couple laps.

I've been consistently snapping wheel lug bolts (3 within the past 5 months) all on the same driver rear hub. Torque wrench is fine, I torque to 90ftlbs. Bolts are springs, they are consumables-- I understand this (and replace all 20 every year). But the fact I'm only snapping them on the same hub makes me wonder about the integrity of the hub. Should I just upgrade to studs or is there something wrong with the hub? My only theory is I did beat the hub a few times trying to replace rotors and not realizing the parking brake was on..

Anyone ever run into this?

I think every one in here runs studs. It should be one of the first things you do to the car IMO.

I would start with just converting to studs and see how it goes.

I would also consider the Core4Motorsports pinned stud hubs, have been running them a few years now with good success. I just did the e9x versions also vs f8x.

I was actually reading about these all yesterday and want to spring for it, but was wondering if I could just get away with some MSI studs for now.

Sounds like I just need studs tbh

If you aren’t running slicks MSI studs will do the job.

If you don't want to run the core pressed in studs, Mcgard creates a lug bolt that has a collared ring on it. This mimics how Porsche OE lugs are. That might help with clamping force vs frictional force. Its on the expensive side though.

Update on this, I have done a grand total of 2 half track days, with the clutches slipping on upshifts the whole time. Bought a DCT, and effectively ended up with a slushbox. The dealership basically had no answer or desire to diagnose, although they agreed it is not functioning correctly. The service advisor got passively pissy after I had GM customer service try to persuade him that my alignment needed to be checked/performed after transmission replacement.

I have GM engineers looking at it, and giving me things to try, since I’m a certified GM tech now lol. I’m guessing this may end in a buy back at this rate. It will probably have another shifting failure if they don’t stop the slipping.

Oh, and when the dealership finally did my alignment, after they claimed to have originally, but didn’t…they left me this surprise!…track day photo below was taken three days before. Notice the lack of ground out paint on the bottom of the rocker panel in front of the rear wheel well?
