Price point needs to be reduced 50% at least. Way too expensive for just calipers.

Not just callipers

You also get pads, sensors, brackets and braided brake lines.

To top it all off you can get and run any replacement m3 disc from any manufacturer so you can make it as cheap or as expensive as you like

Have you priced Lamborghini parts? The front calipers go for about $1000-$1500 alone for a used set in need of a rebuild.

Point taken. Then someone needs to do a retrofit with similar Brembo calipers. I haven't done the research, but I'm going to guess the Lamborghini calipers are similar to ones used in audi's and VW's.

These are the same calipers (same part number) that can be found across different platforms...specifically Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Audi RS6 no VWs. We all know they're all under the same umbrella company VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) but that doesn't mean the price of these calipers should be a lot less...they're still massive Brembo calipers regardless.

Like the other guy said, you get a full kit minus rotors and new brake fluid with this setup. Everything is new...the calipers are basically new because they've been completely refurbished but can't technically be called new. The price point is great and one of the major selling points of these for what you get. You can't come here and post that the price point needs to be at least 50% less if you haven't done the research...that doesn't make any sense.

I ended up getting the ecs tuning rotors this weekend as they where on special

The whole kit with everything new and fully refurbished callipers cost $4154.16 US + Shipping and taxes

The closest I could get an equivalent kit in aus was 10.3k US + shipping and taxes
and you still need extras like pads and lines so it will be more than that.

Even in the US kits you don't get pads, so that is extra.

Which it works out to be like a 60% + saving for everything you need

I'm super excited as I wanted a good brake package but I didn't want to pay the exuberant prices charged for most of the vendors

If money was no option I would only get ap racing radical kit but that works out at around 10k plus shipping and taxes

I will be doing some brake tests using the VBOX deceleration test this weekend for comparison at a later date and I'll be weighing everything to compare to other kits that are available

Il be doing some install pics and a full write up of the whole process with some nice high res pics

After the install and some time to break in everything I'll be doing some more vbox decel tests for comparison

Keep you guys posted

Why not? Politicians, news media, and a wide swath of the general public make unsubstantiated, uneducated claims as facts on a daily basis.

What makes the internet, and this place here, immune to that?

The booster plays into the equation too.

I suspect you won't see any statistically significant difference in deceleration. The stock brakes can already engage ABS on dry pavement, meaning the braking system is not the limitation, the tires are.

You would need to get some very sticky tires and find a stretch of pavement where you can really utilize 100% of the braking potential.

It's not the booster but the valving in the master cylinder that determines the bias

I'll be running my apex arc-8 wheels wrapped in super sticky Nitto nt-01 that is why I brought these brakes as
not many bbk setups can fit this wheel and I can definitely utilise these brakes to their full potential

Well my callipers arrived this afternoon

I laid everything out to make sure everything was here, nothing worse than
half way through a big job and something is missing but nothing is

So its all here now time to run some brake tests on the stock brakes and
start installing these

Also of interest would be the feel of the new compared to the stock brakes. I would think the stock brakes would be linear from light to heavy breaking and not grabby compared to a more racing set up. Of course the resistance to fade is important but I would think hard to compare side by side.

Also for AutoX people how is the cold performance compared to stock.

I look forward to your opinions.

I will do a full write up on these once its all tested

Here are some weights per corner

Front complete calliper inc pads and bracket is 6.4kg inc 9.4kg rotor is 15.8kg, front axel will be 31.6kg +/- 0.1kg

Rear complete calliper inc pads and bracket is 3.8kg inc 9.6kg rotor is 13.2kg, rear axel will be 26.2kg +/- 0.1kg

Front calliper by it self is 4.2kg

Rear calliper by it self is 2.6kg

Not bad in my books

A couple of pics of one of the rear brakes being fitted up

I found the two bolts a touch to long that hold the bracket to the original mounting points, so I reused the original bolts.

The Dust shield fouls on the calliper bracket and calliper so it had to get trimmed with a pair of tin snips.

Trial fitted the calliper to check all clearances cleaned the hub with a wire brush and smear a little anti-size on the hub
to stop rust and to make it easy to take the rotor off next time.

Continue the rest tomorrow.
