Instead BMW M has been doing this in-between thing where they can't make up their mind on anything except that they want a bigger grill because someone said the Chinese like that sort of thing. They're wrong.

I gotta completely disagree until the DME lockout is figured out. Once tuners can get the G8x's S58 unlocked then yeah F8x will be a thing of the past. Until then I'd take a tuned F8x over a locked G8x all-day.

And I dunno about wasted power. For top-end, absolutely. But I can (safely) max out torque driving on the street and feel all of the power delivery as if I was on a track. Torque delivery is where the fun's at for me because I get that mule-kick without having to break the speed limit.

Imagine the case of the new G80 M3. There’s going to be a 16 year old kid who will love it and will dream of owning one someday. Fast forward 10-15 years, that kid worked hard and has enough money to buy an M3 of his own. The G80 M3 he fell in love with 15 years earlier will be considered by them a “classic” It’s all relative, and a classic is made every single day 😃

I was born in 84 and have no connection to that car. I fell in love with the E46 and E90. So, 16 year old person on these forums saving up for your own M3, ignore everyone's opinion on here and drive what makes you happy.

Markus Flasch's Instagram story featured the 3.0CSL Hommage R which he said serves as "good inspiration" for 50 years of M. At the start you can also see two cars with covers that I believe are the M3 touring and XM? Regardless, interesting stuff

I'm still in disbelief that the 3.0CSL concept never resulted in anything for the current 4er and next-gen 2er when it was hinted that it would be featured in some way. Those vertical grilles on the concept are perfect and not over done yet giving BMW some change that the top heads keep talking about.
