Just FYI realize not the same car but probably of interest to folks on this thread, BAT has a VERY nice previous gen M coupe on auction right now.

The guys at Everyday Driver really understand this car - spot on comments for a short review. Find an example before Bring A Trailer and Enthusiast Auto Group corner the market...

Bring a Trailer doesn't corner any markets. Unless you're referring to the overpriced 911 market.

In the meantime, I'm giving the Z some cosmetic M modifications.
Not sure how different the non Ms are, but the Ms do make horrible DDs. Heavy clutch and steering, really stiff ride, not that easy to park. My pain threshold is pretty high but I'm glad my Z4M Roadster is strictly a nice weather weekend car.

I thought about getting a Coupe, but 1 year in, I'm still very happy with my Roadster. It was 75F today (in November, wth!) So it was a joy to drive with the top down.

Couldn't recommend these cars enough.

The clutch on my Z4 Moupe is the best I have ever used. Perfect take up at the half way point, no shudders- and the steering is a joy- I not too stiff- car reacts now! I will agree the ride is stiff lol.

I remember how pissed off I was at Satch when he did that long article about MCoupes, how great they were, and how they would be classics in the near future, and how he had the poor taste to publish it before I could find one.

I dunno for me it wasn't so much headroom as legroom. I had my seat all the way back and could have used another inch.
Ahahah finally got one over on all you tall guys... oh the irony... Muhahahaharghhh

They are great fun cars but they can be quite unpredictable to a person who has no experience behind the wheel of one. Even my miserable ex was laughing in mine when I went into a corner. It might as well terrify some people, all and all great car, can be daily driven but as others have stated the clutch is very stiff, you’ll get used to it though...

My 2008 Z4 M Coupe was the 1st car I bought new. Without a test drive even! It replaced my Supra and a modified Boxster which were my favorite cars to drive up until that point (still have ‘em though but not used other than the occasional start up). I have no intentions of ever selling my Z4MC. It hasn’t yet hit 25k miles either. This picture is from last month:

I love the more visceral and raw drive of it. Even though the F80’s were/are faster, it puts a HUGE smile on my face every time I get in it or even look at it for that matter!

I have an awesome Z4M roadster which I owned from 2010, imported from Germany and bought from the first owner. It's an awesome car with factory hardtop, original M3 CSL wheels and Bilstein suspension. I thought I would keep it forever. It's still great but after 8 years the time has come to put in on sale (25.000euro) to make room for another fun car besides my "daily" M2... I really..realy...want a GT4 and this means selling the Z4M

You guys keep saying that.

BMW produced PLENTY of these. But NO ONE bought them. At one point in 2007 (less than 8 months after production has started) there were 12 of them stacked up in the back lot of the dealership where I bought mine from. First 600 or so were spoken for immediately, some requiring an advance deposit, some requiring a MARK-UP.

After that?

BMW ended up having to throw $10,000 in cash at the car for them to be sold. I still recall in early 2009, several months after they discontinued production, there were multiple copies at local dealerships awaiting ANY enthusiast to love it enough to buy it.

Fact is, people all say "hey we want BMW to build and produce a small, nimble, back to the basics sports car" and the second BMW builds one, same one screaming for BMW to "get back to the basics" goes and buy an X6M.

Same as all those keyboard warriors bemoaning the death of manuals, but the majority of them goes out and buy automatics. It just sounds more manly to say "hey I DEMAND a sporty car" when in reality? A Toyota Camry is what they need to drive.

It's like all great art masters. No one really appreciates them until they're DEAD.

Buddy there was a thing called a financial crisis. It was extremely bad timing for the Z4M.

If it only happened to the Z4 M, then yeah, I agree. Financial crisis hit us all hard.

But it happened to the Z3 M Coupe as well. They didn't make only 5xx S54 equipped Z3 M Coupe for North America because they wanted to, it's because it simply didn't sell. Did you know that the Z3 M with the S54 has the highest Horsepower per Weight in LBS ratio of any BMW ever produced?

Yet no one bought it when they're on the lots.

I guess it's good news for those of us holding on to our Z4 M Coupes, because even though sales were horrendous, people DO recognize a fantastic combination when they see it. E86 M prices have been holding steady at $30K for a decent example and slowly creeping up. That's 10 years after production has ended and it's holding approximately 70% of its value from new.

Like I said. No one recognized art masters when they're alive.
