How meticulous are you?

OK, so i guess im not the only one....

ok to your wife.... same goes for my wife...

1. no food or drink
2. wash the car once a week and wipe it when i get home from work everyday
3. wipe the inside of my car make sure no dust anywhere on seats steering wheel basically wipe the entire interior
4. vacuum the car every 2 days... i hate the dirt crumbs
5. more to add but im lazy now... SO TO YOUR WIFEY.... YOUR HUSBAND IS NORMAL.. HES JUST A CAR FREAK.... ITS EITHER THAT OR A CHICK...

However on the road you are... I never see any other M3's around here. Audi R8, Ferrari, plenty of corvettes but no m3.

i'm doing #4 about once a month. other than that we're the same!

i'd also like to note my car is Jerez. So as soon as I drive ten feet after washing its dirty

I know! I saw 1 other E90 sedan about a week ago. I see more E60 M5's than any other bmw M's

I used to be a lot more anal about washing the car once a week, wax every other month, etc. I have eased off....wash every two to three weeks, and apply a coat of Optimum spray wax after each wash.

Centripetal force while driving will not allow much water to hit your rotors, also BMW and I'm sure other manufacturers do this; but when its raining the car will clamp on the rotors to dry them(brake drying...research it). Its much different than driving around to purposely get the car hot and then spray it with a stream of water from a hose.

I am not an anal person by any stretch of the imagination, but I am with this car. Make sure the kids take of shoes b4 getting in their seats. No food, ever! only drinks with caps, but the real obsession is now with driving. Bought it last May, no test drive, no cross shopping (I'm pretty impulsive like that) and since have put about 24k on it with about 25 track days and am obsessed about having the best track/DD in the world. It's all I research and think about.... Driving!!! At least my wife likes driving it too, almost too much as I'm always asking what car she's taking and she always says the M. You're not psycho, your normal, it's an M thing, she wouldn't understand

I don't wash her every week but when I do get the time I take it to pamper her with a full detail(all done myself) both inside and out. I clean the leather front to back(even though no one really sits back there) every 2 months and vacuum it regularly. SSII really hides the dirt so I wash it when the wheels get dirty.

OCD M3 Drivers: Keep in mind that the more that you touch your paint the more you increase the risk of scratching or micro-marring the paint.

Your wife thinks you're bad eh? You should see how my gf looks at me at times. Of course she's learned to deal with it and even appreciate it. She loves having a polished out black car, and just like me, won't touch the paint or windows to close the door (push on the door handle, or on the key-hole opening).

i just tell people detailing is a hobby and it actually is. even though its alot of work just for one wash, the result is just too good especially when you have black cars like jerez. since i have a beater i usually dont end up driving my car for one week after a wash just so i can keep it clean lol but once i start driving it i let it get real dirty sometimes so it makes spending 1.5-2hrs on just washing worthwhile

Yeah I have a truck I use for business. I have to have it to haul shipments. Its nice to have a second vehicle for sure.

FINALLY! Someone had the B#^LS to start a thread like this. I'm with you all the way!


1.Clean my car with water only.
2.No eating.
3.No touching speakers, glass or any other form of movement. (kids in the back)
4.No toys even the DS.
5.No goofing around. Everybody has to be serious!!
6.Nobody will use the garage to enter or exit the house.
And finally #7. I take pics of the speedometer before the car rolls and tell what itenerary for that particular usage. Then send it to my own email. The wife calls it the Bmw Diary.

OOpps. I forgot #8. No perfumes or cologne! I want to keep the original scent if posible.

Haha fantastic thread. I have really bad luck when I wash my car. It usually rains within a day or two. And Vegas never rains right!

I go through phases where I'm really bad with keeping the car perfect. But it's quite a struggle in Pittsburgh to keep your car showroom fresh ; )

I recommend you take your wifey to a couple events like a Cars & Coffee or a big gathering such as Bimmerfest. Why? It's a humbling experience for many people and helps one realize that the person in question is not the only obsessive person and that it may be quite normal.

I have been made fun of, called obsessive compulsive, called crazy, etc. over the years for my following habits with my cars, however, at the end of the day, it makes me happy and feel a bit of joy while I am doing it, and afterward. My home garage is like my sanctuary.

1)Remove wheels every 6-8 weeks to thoroughly clean and wax them. Clean wheel wells with various brushes and cleaners. Dress the liners and remove any sort of build on on rotor hubs so they remain the brilliant silver they are.

2)Wash car every week at the very least followed by my preferred quick detailer.

3)Leather is wiped every time its washed.

4)Wash my hands after I eat before I get in the car.

5)Tell the GF to not use excessive lotion on the back of her legs if she is wearing a skirt to not soil up my leather.

6)Swissvax detail brush through all the crevices to remove any sort of dust.

7)Vacuum with soft bristle brush through all leather crevices so nothing gets in there to potentially abrade it away.

My car is 15 months old, and it just hit 10,000 miles. Do I enjoy my car? Very much. I track it, I have my fun with it. I have a daily driver and getting in the M3 is that much more rewarding because of it. It has never been driven in the rain.

I love the looks from neighbors when the foam cannon comes out, and also their face when I am using a leaf blower.

Am I a little weird? Probably. Does it look awesome when its on the street driving? You can bet on it.

This is true... The key in keeping a good car is really the maintaining part. The more you can avoid touching it, the better off. Once you get a good detail to remove swirls and light scratches, leave it alone for a while unless you absolutely need to wash it again.

Now that I just finished mine, it will be in the garage unless I'm driving it! Sure, it'll need a washing, but not for a while hopefully I'm hoping the sealant I put on repels most of the nasty stuff
