my turn to order - silver or black

my number is up, it's time to make some decisions, i have to make the final decision by friday

i've had:

red e36 m3 black interior
red e46 m3 black interior
titanium e46 m3 cab red interior

i want black carbon leather interior and am not sure of:

black or silver exterior

i think the black looks incredible and would tint the windows - but the carbon fiber roof wouldn't show as much and i'm terrified of swirl marks (which i experienced with a 740)

silver looks closest to my titanium now, would highlight the contrasting carbon fiber roof (which may be too polarizing) and if i tinted the windows may look too black on top

opinions? comments?

i was flip-flopping myself and originally ordered jet black with bamboo but yesterday changed to space gray and red. would be crazy to not see that awesome carbon fiber roof. personally, i think black on black is too stark.

I'd never have another black car--too much work to keep looking good. I'd say SSII/Black or Fox interior.

i looked at the pictures on the colors posts and it seems like the contrast between the roof and the body is key; silver it is

Silver was the most popular e46, but now its AW so you should be ok with either one.
I would go Silver with black interior. I dont care for black on black, plus its too hot where I live.

Good grief. Why can't people make their own decisions? Why would anybody need the help of complete strangers to make a completely subjective decision?

There are plenty of things about the M3 which we can talk about.

Have some balls for God's sake.

I respectfully disagree. While I would not let a stranger decide on a color for me, it is interesting to hear about various combinations of exterior and interior colors. We also can learn about the subtle variations within a color such as SSII or jerez. Not everybody will be ordering white with fox red....

well if I was torn by 2 colors that I really liked I mean to the point that I wanted one of each then I would ask for advice. Maybe people can bring up good points that you wouldn't normally see about a color or even know about aka black and white are hard to keep clean.

At first I wanted AW but thought to my self no I will go with SG just because I dont want to clean my car every other day in order to make it look good. Then after looking at more pics and eading comments about AW. It made me realize that I really did want AW. Advice can be taken in any way my perspective of blue could be the reason why you wouldnt like it.

muskanoosh your in the same boat as I wasbut with black and grey. Black looks very clean when it is clean. It requires alot of maintanace to keep clean. It's also not a police magnet color because they tend to be harder to see especally at night. Make srue not to get any scratches on black as they showup white. If you live in a hot area you better expect teh car to be very hot all the time and I would hope you ahve a garage to store it in. Plus you loose the visibility of the CF roof.

Silver on the other hand you can literally not wash the car for 3 weeks and it will still look clean. Of course when it recives a car wash it looks amazing again. scratches dont show up on the car unless you really look for them. The car is more noticable but because there are so many silver cars on the roads it looses its uniqness. Silver is a safe over all color for resales and in hot area's it dosent turn into a microwave unless you have black interior and dont shade your windows. But on the bright side the CF roof will be visible and stunning.

I too was shocked, angered, and even saddened that someone would raise this very controversial issue. I am a very important and special person and I don't have time to read threads about topics that I deem uninteresting. I bet you feel the same way.

On a side note, I enjoyed meeting you at the annual fundraiser for narcissistic personality disorder last month.

PS - I'm torn over Jerez Black versus SS2 as well.

Black and they dont have a regular silver on the car. Only silverstone which has a hint of blue in it.

it wasn't so much a request for strangers to pick my color as it was to flush out this issue about black and whether or not swirl marks are just part of the ownership experience; also wondered if the silverstone II is as close to my current titanium; i was worried about too much of a blue tint and was using the forum to see if someone had seen any of this on an actual car versus the color sample cards in the brochure

Please don't use words that I have to look up in the dictionary.

The point is that these topics have been covered ad nauseum.

And on top of that, the vast majority of people are basing their knowledge on photographs and what they "think" the colour looks like.
