I do not agree with multiple items on that schedule posted in OP. Intervals for DCT fluid, spark plugs, air filter appear wrong to me. Sorry but I don't think this is a well thought out schedule and more of a from the hip.

Not from the hip. From Mike Miller. Take it or leave it.

Anyone doing a DCT flush every 30k miles has more money than brains. The DCT fluid is good for 75-100k miles and costs ~$400 in parts or $1800 done at the dealer (although no one should get it done there). Plugs are toast after about 25-30k miles and in no way can make it to 60k. Even BMW recommends changing them about every 36k miles.

So yeah, from the hip IMO and not well thought out for our specific cars. Am I missing something that says the old school mechanic is a reasonable source of knowledge about the E9x M3? I just don't want to see the casual user come in here and take all of this schedule as reasonable and run with it, but I guess user beware.

You’re right I do have more money than you. I have actually since updated a number of items. I have enough brains to change the text in the cells in an excel spreadsheet. I’m guessing most of the others do as well? I do agree with the spark plugs. That’s one I changed on my personal version. I also changed oil changes down to 3000 miles. Mike Miller is an extremely reputable source of knowledge on the S65 so yes you did miss something if you didn’t know that. Back to the OP, this is a template I created for myself and shared with the fellow enthusiasts who are smart enough to make their own big boy (and girl) decisions about how to take care of their car. The maintenance on these cars has always been and will continue to be a mish mash of preferences and recommendations. There are so many items that we do differently than dealer recommendation.

Anyway, I took the bait. You hijacked the thread. Congrats.

Since there were no comments debating the validity of this maintenance schedule which apparently garners Mike Miller's seal of approval (and yes I know who he is but he is NOT an expert on the E92 M3), it makes sense to point out the flaws. This was not a reflection on you the OP but more on his schedule as it is presented here. Or maybe it is a reflection on you because if you post a flawed scheduled and know there are errors that you change in your personal sheet but don't share them with the lemmings... whatever.

Enjoy that -18 rep you have. May your DCT ever be flushed. Bye.

WTF is Mike Miller, and why should i care? I agree, 60k miles for spark plugs is not gonna fly, and nobody is going to flush DCT every 10k miles, that makes no sense at all.

Mike Miller is a BMW mechanic. He works on BMW's and has developed a reputation for servicing vehicles his own way, and it's played out to result in lots of good miles. People refer to his maintenance style as "Old School" and he now writes for Roundel (BMWCCA Magazine).

You don't have to care, rest assured. You should do what you think is best for your own car.

I agree with you on the 60k mile interval for the plugs, and not sure where the 10k DCT flush interval came from but I wouldn't do that for my car either.

looks like he changed rod bearings twice. Is there a picture of the used BE bearings?
