Bad Operating Shaft and Throttle Bodies

First post here but I bought a 2011 M3 with 70k on it. It is at the dealer for a throttle actuator replacement on bank 2. When disassembling the car today to install the actuator the dealer says that the operating shaft is binding on the bearings in the front and rear throttle bodies. They say they polished and greased the operating shaft but it is still binding. They recommend replacing the operating shaft and two throttle bodies. I have searched the forum and cannot find any cases of this. Has anyone ever heard of this issue? It's about a $4000 repair. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

It's possible
The shaft is exposed under the intake manifold and a lot of dust and debris could find its way in.

i don't personally recall reading anything about this, but it doesn't mean it can't happen.

also, this is one of those things that could be done at a reputable indi shop for probably half the cost.

Thanks for the replies. The dealer and BMW are helping out on the cost. I'm going to go ahead and replace both throttle actuators too.
