When i got mine i narrowed it down to two cat backs. Corsa and Borla Atak. The Corsa
does remind me of the Atak a little bit. The difference is the Atak is still sweet but a little more nasty (in a good way) more volume and slight drone at 3k. They are both great exhaust i just wanted the one that was a little more nasty.

The only others i would even consider for future are Corsa or MPE if i wanted to tame it down a bit.

Corsa is a great choice though.

Both of the Eisenmann exhausts sound great once you are out of that low RPM zone, but I can't stand them (and a lot of other exhausts) that are that bassy down low.
I don't know what the loud bassy boominess you are talking about it. I have the Eisenmann Sport with HFC xpipe and it sounds really good in all RPM bands

Also a good question for the OP. How much power gain would one expect from this setup since it does include the x-pipe?

I think I'm going to buy a Corsa exhaust because of this thread I'm wondering if this would sound similar with the MS catless X-pipe (it has twin resonators). I'm thinking a different route on the tips though. I like the dry carbon look myself. So going with a set of these or something similar: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161615033978

I love my corsa. Im stock otherwise.

Coming from a Megan , I now appreciate a quieter exhaust without the drone. I no longer have to stay out of the drone rpm zone. It eliminated the annoying low frequency sounds but amplified the sounds which make the s65 special. Quiet when you want and louder on demand as the revs rise. I have no urge for an xpipe. It sounds perfect for me.

Gonna redyno and find out soon. I dynoed but it was about 30 highway miles and no wide open throttle pulls after I installed my tune and I made progressively MORE power on the dyno. I suspect some time at WOT will be helpful to the numbers.

FWIW, when I went to test pipes, the Megan was drone free. There were still low notes but they did not resonate.

Great write up! Seat 1 inch lower and more steering wheel adjustment Also one of my main gripes with the E92 as well, but like you said... I just added the F82 and kept the E92 for all the reasons you pointed out.

I know you're talking about the op, but these are the tips I will be using. They are for a 997.2 Carrera. The outlets are 3.5" and the inlet (from my reading) is 2.5". They were a little pricey, but I really like the way they look.

Cyba also offers similar tips, they are very popular over on e90post

My Corsa exhaust has been ordered. Got it for $1550 shipped!

They are built to order so a lot of places will claim they are on 'back-order for 3-4 weeks'. Can't wait!

That's the catback portion. I don't think Corsa offers the testpipes and xpipe. I have a macht schnell xpipe which includes the testpipes

I love the sound of this setup. You better believe I'm getting the ESS X-Pipe and tune as soon as I'm out of warranty.

Did you leave the primary cats intact or did you also get test pipes/ HFC replacement for section 1?

This setup has 0 drone? Any in cabin sound clips?

The only other known exhaust to have zero drone are OE BMW M Performance and Akra slip-on.

Absolutely no drone. I'll try to get video over the weekend on my set-up (catless). Here is in cabin w/cats:

Great writeup OP! It was really well written

No one will replicate the specialness of a NA, high revving engine with a turbo.

I have the ESS XPipe waiting to be added to my Evolve Valvetronic system. I hope that makes 'loud' be really loud and leaves the more civil version for the neighborhood friends

Why did you go with the ESS xpipe and not the Evolve one since you have the Etronic exhaust?

Do you have any pictures of the ESS X-Pipe? Curious to see the location of the crossover compared to the oem. i believe the only X-Pipes that have "better" cross over is ESS, Gintani, and MRF.

Side note: Evolve X-Pipe has the cross over in the exact same location as OEM X-Pipe.
