What is a good air compressor (with necessary tools) for adjusting car tire air pressure at my home garage? I need (want) something nice that will last many years.

I have had a cheap $99 unit from Sears with the accessory kit for about 15 years. No issues.

There's a few things you'll want to consider/figure out before you decide.

1. What tools do you plan on using with it? (Think long term since getting too small of a unit now could hurt you down the road)
2. Is sound an issue? (These things can be loud. Normally the cheaper the unit, the more likely it will be loud.)
3. Do you really need one? (I only ask this one since you only address wanting to add air to tires)

If you do plan to get a compressor, it does not hurt to go a bit bigger than you think you need (unless you have very limited storage *******.

I have a Sears 32 gal (oil less) since 2002. I'm happy, only issue is that tank wont hold air more than a day as it leaks out the bottom valve. Runs out of air with continuous use of die grinder or sander, otherwise its great.

Just about anything will put air in your tires. No need for a 30 gallon compressor. I'd buy a little one or two gallon hotdog, pancake or twinstack, with a brand name.

This is plenty for your needs. If you have Amazon Prime, it ships free; if not I think you could find one locally at Home Depot.

I've had the predecessor model for years. There are parts on compressors that wear out (especially the check valve and the tank condensation drain) but they are all user-replaceable.

Be warned: These things are LOUD.

This is also good enough to run nail guns, which are awesome for homeowner carpentry work.

i haven't listened to the one in the trunk.the sears one is fairly loud,though,but when i turn it on it just runs for a minute or two,then shuts off.that provides enough air to top up 4 tires.it's not running the whole time.
