E9x M3 ESS SC
Hey guys, I have been looking around at supercharger kits for my e92 and I have seen that ess seems like the most used and most loved supercharger kit all around, but I dont know if I should go for a G1 kit or the 625 kit. Any suggestions?

G1 is supposed to be quieter but I like the sound of the vortech blower sounds like a jet liner.

I love my 625, haven’t had it for long as it was on the car when I got it, but as far as performance I can’t imagine wanting more. Smooth linear power. Basically the E9x powerband on steroids. And actually pulls all the way to redline unlike stock which tails off towards redline. No clue on the g1 |

Ive got the ess625, and i love it.
You can always go with a custom tune, e85, etc later to squeeze out more power, but out of the box, its extremely satisfying. |

Thank you guys for the info. It has really helped. I like the sound of the blower anyways and don't care much about mechanical noises so I wouldn't mind a louder kit. Just didnt know if one was better than the other or not. again, thanks! |

G1 is newest hardware - lighter, quieter and more efficient. More info in this thread:

Downsides: price, not as easy to upgrade for increased power.

1) These cars need low end power, Harrop likely provides the most 1a) I think the PD style blowers sound awesome 2) They look awesome in the engine bay 3) I'm not chasing massive power so for me upgrading is not a deal breaker Having had big V8's with big power and torque it would be nice to have a little more low end shove. ESS Pros 1)I have heard that the ESS tune's are the most reliable, this is a very compelling reason to stay with ESS. I have no evidence or facts to support such claims however. 2) The power delivery is just like the stock just significantly faster. Bottom line if you want a faster E9x ///M all the superchargers available will likely provide that. All said, my ESS 625 kit is awesome. After 5-6K it pulls VERY (VERY) hard. A SC'd E9x M3 might just be one of the most satisfying cars to drive considering it's price. Even taking price out of the equation, it's still hard to beat.

Ok gotcha now the question is reliability and longevity of the S65, can these motors/tranny’s hold the power without grenading? Also would it be better to purchase a modded e9x already or just buy the parts new and get it installed?

I feel like around 500-550whp seems to be the number (~7lbs of boost) that these kits shoot for, any more is really for bragging rights. 500whp for a 3600lb car is fast for the street, there is no need for more (IMO). There will be still plenty of people that push the envelop and are willing to take the chance. There are no guarantees in life. If you are very concerned, keep it stock... For me a SC'd S65 was the plan all along, i was very fortunate to find one that was cared for, very low mile and already modded. Good luck to you sir!

I’ve also been debating between the 625 or the G1 and although I haven’t seen that many videos or dyno sheets from the G1 as opposed to the 625, I’m gonna go with the G1. I’m not planning on being the highest HP M3 out there, maybe later bigger injectors and an E85 tune. Anybody with the G1 that have dyno sheets with 91 OCT on here ?
