I’m from Long Island. Where did you have it dyno’d?

That's why I was asking about the redline-- it didn't look like your engine had leveled off yet necessarily, and it seemed like there should still be RPM on the table.

... Have you considered fooling with the intake trumpet length at all? If you're going to rev it another 8500rpm, and can't cam it further, you might be able to shift the curve up/right with some shorter runners. Almost certainly you're outside of the design spec of the stock runners at this point
Yes, there is likely more happiness left in it. If we end up actually changing things I'll update the first post with the info

The Karbonius box has different trumpets than the stock one but they aren't specifically optimized for the stroker. BTW I was able to compare an E46 CSL replica airbox vs the Karbonius version last night and holy moly... what a difference

Sweeeeet... serious numbers. I’ve got to remember to peek in the “real forums” once in a while...

Any thoughts of E85 or race fuel in the future? Curious what there would be to gain.

On E85 it should get a decent bump, same as on race fuel... but those would be dyno-queen style numbers which I dislike.
Unless I'm going to run E85 I'm not interested in what hypothetical numbers it would achieve.

For years I see the '93 octane + 2 gallons of E85' or '94' octane info on dynos and think 'unless you're in Canada or Europe I don't care about the 94 octane numbers, as I can't buy that in a regular station.'

Which forums are you hanging out in? Skeptical hippo face

Damn, Danny. You know the S65 is my boo bear. Without one in my garage, I keep wandering over to Off Topic and General. No skepticism my man, just my F56S collecting dust!

What happened to your car is really a tragedy. I hope you can get another one. Those 130k mile ones that pop up plus a stroker build start looking really interesting right now.

This morning I drove the E92 to work and was thinking 'you need a stroker as well!'

Cheers!

Karbonius is the best of the reps for sure-- and by no small margin. It's also great that they're continually updating/improving the box over time, as they find areas that can be made better!

Which other rep box did you see?

... that said, I'm pretty pleased with my OEM CSL airbox

If it were me I'd set my habit to have the shift point at 8200 and let the extra 400rpm be the overtake button. Just for longevity purposes

It's a really nice thing about the v2 performance wheels on the E92 and E90: you set the point at which the lights will light up solid indicating the need for a shift, so you can set it wherever you want so you usually shift at say 8200rpm but keep the extra rpms for a specific point in the track or certain situations

Yes it sounds like there is definitely some fine tuning in trumpet length and shape. I know when I was looking to do a 9000rpm 4.2 S65 a particular race team advised the trumpets would need to be 11mm shorter than stock. Another company mentioned straight trumpets also...food for thought.

Updated the graph of the different states of tunes vs the Alekshop engine, here it is

Bear in mind all the dynos are in STD vs my stroker which is SAE. SAE which reads lower. The day I get a dynojet we can compare both of them on the same graph done properly, but this is interesting meanwhile

Conclusions:
From 5500 to +8000 this stroker makes way more whp than the Alekshop. It is clear that between the internals and the 292 cams/headers/Karbonius airbox the car has more hp pretty much everywhere.
If you look at whp average from 7000 to 8000 this is at least as powerful as a 595 supercharger kit

Why not? The biggest limitation in the car are the halo track seats. And that driving this makes you want to behave like a criminal.

I've taken it to work a couple times this week!

Bimmerworld also makes a catted long tube header xpipe. I have it as well so it can be driven on the street in a more civilized manner

SYT - do you have a better 412whp dyno? I'm very interested in the shape of the torque curve before/after the stroker. The stroker curve has a nice big fat swell from 4-6k rpm which should make the motor feel extremely eager in that range, much unlike the stock S65 curve. The BW headers/midpipe (with front-placed X) seems to completely "fill" the 4-6k rpm torque dip and I'd love to see the difference between the two dynos - ie: how does the stroker change the shape vs the pre-stroker mods.

I wish I did... it has been impossible to get the files.

When I do a dynojet on the stroker we can compare vs the stock curve on the same dyno and also against the E92 dynojet that has the Karbonius intake. It won't be soon though, it could not be more hot and humid in NY.

At 4k rpm it's pulling hard, at 6k rpm I was getting traction control intervention in a straight line rolling start with 295 rear r888r.

Remember the BW xpipe with the front placed X is also available for oem headers. I have two those of those, one with cats in the secondary position and the other fully catless.

hehe yes. The CS doesn't get dragged anymore by 991.1/.2 GT3s/RS but it will be a real pleasure to keep up to them in the straights, as if you can do that they it's quite easy to outbrake and outcorner them.

I got a 'shake' sticker for the E90 and the CS will get a 'and bake' one when my brother and I are driving
