The rod bearing crew live for only one reason, to change rod bearings. Don't dare dispute their engine problems that never happened!

Not considered high mileage, but is your long start an impending fuel pump failure?

Sure, not high mileage, but OP's definition is greater than 50k.

Doing my bearings next week with 147000 miles on the car. I bought it with 54000.

Runs great. Good oil analysis's. But today I'm going to take it for a drive. Will it blow between now and next week?

Go get your codes read at autozone or something. But without any other info my guess would be throttle actuator

Hi guys,
I am seriously considering buying a 08 e92 M3. It has 59k miles/95k km with full bmw service history. The only problem it has is a throttle actuator and because of that I am getting a really sweet price. I am a bit concerned about the rod bearings and I am planning a change as soon as I get it home. I will drive it for 1500 miles to my home country and I believe at least another 500 afterwards until I get them done. From what I have read they should not cause a problem in that gap. Anyway, seeing so many owners without any problems and some cars with over 100k miles gave me some confidence. If everything turns to be ok on the PPI and I buy it, I will post some pics(maybe even a thread with the whole tour and stuff).Regards...

2008 87,000 miles 3rd owner. Attempted at chasing down prior owners to meet failure . Had it for 6 months now. Only things that I had taken care of was O2 sensors. So far running like a dream.

Sure I will. It is really hard to find a car with the options I want, with full service history and low mileage for a decent price, so 27 hour drive is not gonna scare me .And if you are talking about the rod bearings ,it is all chance ,but it all should be ok for 2000 miles.I believe this problem is blown a little out of proportions, still serious one, though. I asked many peoples about that and they said it is very very unlikely to happen in this small interval. What you guys think?

I was only kidding you. You'll be fine. My rod bearings have 95k miles and 8 years of use and the engine runs fine. Just 1 example, I know, but I'm not worried about anything!

2008 - 64,000 miles - 2nd owner. Bought the car with 42,000 on it 3 years ago.

Daily driver and track car. Have (and will) only run Castrol 10w60, and change it every 5k miles.

Blackstone report is near perfect. Only issue was throttle actuators 4k miles ago, covered by extended warranty.
