Bavgruppe 3/4 rings

My headlights were in heavy need of a rebuild; the lenses had oxidation from the sun, and I always hated how the rings looked. I decided to bite the bullet and rebuild them myself. As an FYI this is not a DIY, I found a couple good videos on YouTube and a post on this forum for that.

What I ordered:
> Bavgruppe 3/4 Rings
> Carbon Fiber eye lids.
> ZKW-R Lenses
> Bimmer Jake lens covers.
> Butyl Rubber/glue.
> Goretex patches

As for paint and epoxy:
> Rust-Oleum self-etching primer
> Rust-Oleum plastic Semi-gloss paint
> Rust-Oleum high gloss
> JB Weld ClearWeld Quick Setting Epoxy (this was KEY)

Here you can see a before and the oxidation on the top.

and here are some afters:

Cameras have a hard time capturing just how bright these are. Here is an almost dark room at sunset with just the rings on:

Here you can see a comparison between the ZKW-R lens and the original where the right light is the new lens and the left light is the original:

I then had a shop near me clear wrap them with XPEL -- that stuff is practically invisible! And it self-heals too:

And finally here is how they turned out:

Was it complicated? Not really -- but they do leave ZERO margin for error; you have to be spot-on with how you place the outer ring on the shroud and how you cut the mounting points for clearance. It was very time consuming. I took four days and lots of breaks in between to spend time with wife and daughter after my business trip. At the end, I found it kind of relaxing. I did one headlight at a time, made a couple mistakes on the first one, adjusted and corrected them on the second headlight and they came out perfect.

I highly recommend two things: replaces your lens covers; I cannot believe how many people go through all this trouble and don't do it. 2. Take your time, enjoy it; the results are so rewarding.

Any question, feel free to reach out.

Thanks! I think the 3/4 DTM look more agressive and kinda give the car a "mean" look.
