This is my first time posting folks so please bear with me, I will try to learn your ways quickly... with that out of the way this was my experience purchasing my own M3:

When: March 2018
Year and Model: 2011 E92 Jerez Black
Miles: 45000
Options: Competition, Premium, Tech, Cold Weather, Individual Audio, CF Roof
Transmission:6MT

Paid: 37500

Now, I know I paid a bit much by any measure, however hear me out.
After looking for a while (about ~8 months) my particular car came across in one of my random searches, this one was a CarMax car. Never even considered them until I started reading some more about them and watching some old Doug Demouro videos... so in a nutshell that’s what I paid for it, with a bumper to bumper 5yr/100k warranty

best way to enjoy these cars as carmax warranty is great (as you know) I see it as you will be doing 5-10k in repairs possibly over the next 5 years so if warranty covers you got a great deal.

If you have any gasket issues, throttle actuators or possibly rod bearings go, you can easily spend 5-10k pretty quick in repairs.

I'm in over $5K in maintenance (mostly preventative, but some mandatory) since August. so yeah it's an expensive car to maintain for most. Those that DIY most things get massive return on their sweat equity because the prices reflect M maintenance often.

I did BE Rod Bearings, spark plugs, underbelly pan, tail lights, fluids etc. So it's not like mine was breaking apart, but those items added up.

Nice pick up!!!! love Melbourne with cloth! I checked out your build thread too and see you are adding the same mods I would go for like black comp (GTS) wheels and exhaust.

Heh

Just think it's funny we're probably at the point, with ultra-low mile E9x's becoming so rare, where this car would be worth MORE than I paid if I had just parked it...lol

Price: $32,600

Two owner car (I'm #3), completely stock other than black kidney grilles and carbon side markers. Wheels all had pretty bad rash from the previous owner so I just had those cleaned up and refinished in black from silver. Also just replaced the side grilles with an oem black chrome edition set. Got a few other subtle changes planned for the future. Loving the car so far.

Sounds like a fantastic deal to me at that mileage! Beautiful too.

Fun fact about this car... I am both the 5th owner and now the 7th owner. I sold it to a forum member who had it for a couple years and drove it 5,000 miles. He traded it to a dealer (before I was back on the market) and I saw it for sale and bought it... again.

Great deal. Where did you find the car if you don't me asking? Dealer or private party?

I moved to NYC so I replaced it with an NYC MTA card... and I had my Passat parked for a while.

I did miss the M3 but couldn't justify two cars, payment, insurance etc. if I was barely driving.
