New Years Update 1/2/19
Finally got to put my Christmas present to use, wife bought me a QuickJack so I decided to tackle the DINAN Stage 1 Suspension install. Installation was quite easy, I can't believe DINAN quotes 7-8 hours to install this. I did the install in 5 hours, that's by myself with going to get food for the girls twice, multiple breaks in between, getting all the exact torque values for every bolt and nut, swinging by the store for ice cream AND getting pulled over in my F80 on the way back for no front plate.. Tip for the spring install on the E92, no spring compressor is needed. Just put a jack on the front rotor, jack it up, loosen the top nut and lower the strut and spring down. (Make sure to remove the brake wear and abs sensor lines from their holding brackets) The whole strut will swing out and you just pull the spring off, put the new spring on, swing the assembly back and line it up, jack the whole thing back into the top mount and tighten the top nut. DONE! If I didn't have to install the DINAN Ride and Handling Supplemental kit, it would've probably taken me 25 minutes each front corner to just do lowering springs. . . DINAN Ride and Handling Supplemental Kit . . . All back together looking pretty. . . . DINAN shaved top mount and spacer . . . Rear instructions were a bit confusing..until I realized some of the OEM parts listed on the diagram were still on the car. . . . Stock rear spring vs. DINAN . . . All the leftover OEM parts after the DINAN Stage 1 install The finished product, lowering was exactly as advertised, about 1/2" but best of all the ride quality is indiscernible from stock. I think I need to drive it a bit more to test the handling but so far it's super comfortable, no noises or weird behavior. EDC works great just like before. So far I'm really impressed with the ride and overall quality of the kit. . . . One last pic before putting her to bed. She had a rough day of surgery, goodnight princess. lol Last edited by DanMpower; 02-14-2019 at 12:40 AM.. |

Looks great! 1/2" is basically a ZCP drop.
It would be great to code your EDC to the ZCP settings and your sport setting will be even more compliant! Cheers to a happy new year.

Update 1/9/19
After a few days, this is how the car settled with the DINAN Stage 1 Suspension. Ride and handling is sublime, I love this suspension. This is the first time I've ever installed an aftermarket suspension and felt like the car actually rides better than stock. Gap is 2 fingers up front and 1 in the rear. . . . . Did some maintenance today, change out the original PS fluid and slapped in a new OEM battery. Registered the new battery with the Schwaben BMW/MINI scan tool, worked perfectly. . . . Original PS fluid didn't look too bad. . . . . Last but not least, finished off the day by installing a mint Eisenmann Race exhaust I purchased from a forum member a while back. The sound is....AMAZING. Last edited by DanMpower; 01-10-2019 at 12:55 PM.. |

So tomorrow I welcome home the newest member of the ///M family. I've been eyeing an E39 for the longest time, lucky me this one popped up at my local dealership. 2001 E39 M5 with just over 70k miles.
Need to change the title to "Bought an E39 to make my E92 and F80 jealous." Last edited by DanMpower; 01-09-2019 at 09:49 PM.. |

Yeah, I definitely feel lucky for finding one in such good condition and completely stock, a couple of rashed wheels but other than that, inside and out looks to be in great shape. All documentation and even the original window sticker included. PPI is scheduled for tomorrow and I'll find out if it needs anything else.
Now the hard part is explaining to the wife why I need 3 M cars. |

Congrats on the M5
I have an E90 M3 and an E39 M5. Best of both worlds. My E90 is a DCT and paired with the S65 its a blast. The E39 and it's 6MT/S62 combo is pure perfection. The torque difference is truly night and day. Handling and braking clearly goes to the E90, but if I had to choose one it would be the E39. Different horses for different courses |

Congrats on the E39. That was my first ///M Car/ They are great cars, and have styling that still looks great today. And that engine..... It also needs the Dinan treatment. The Dinan exhaust wakes up the car, but isn't obnoxiously loud.
My old ///M crew.

Update 2/10/19
Haven't done much to the E92 as I've been working a lot on the E39 but I did receive a couple goodies for her recently. Genuine M-Performance carbon spoiler IND painted OEM "M3" badge Using painter's tape I was able to align the new badge to the original spot. Since IND uses the OEM E9x M3 badge as the base, the size and fit were obviously spot on. . . . . . . . Removed the stock spoiler and taking off the residue glue was a 5-minute job thanks to the 3M eraser wheel. Easy peasy. . . . . . I guess when Hans was installing my rear lip spoiler during production he missed a section of the tape. Whoops. . . . . I installed the M-Performance spoiler with 3M VHB "black" acrylic trim tape. I'm really particular when it comes to gaps so I was contemplating Betalink, in the end I'm glad I went with 3M VHB because I got the spoiler to sit flush, virtually gap-less. . . . . . The finished rear end. Last edited by DanMpower; 02-14-2019 at 12:44 AM.. |
