Figured I'd bump this to see who else looks at the gas gauge in disbelief.

Best guess is 80% Highway, 20% City... some spirited driving most days. My avg always hovers around 18.9 mpg..

Over the last 800 miles I'm at 17.4mpg. Probably 60% highway, 40% city, but 100% in terrible South Florida traffic.

I average about 12-13. Everyone make sure to not always go by your electronic MPG gauge. It consistently says 17-19 mpg when in reality it's 12-13. That's almost an 100 mile difference in a tank. Fill up fully, reset trip odometer and calculate that way

23K miles. Odometer calculated I get 15. Computer says I'm getting 17.
That's about 30% highway/30% bumper to bumper highway/30% City/10% lead foot.

5.7km/l (13.4mpg) on mostly 50km/h limit zones. Not bad for a NA V8.

Usually around 11-12.5 mpg (calculated using odometer method) depending on how heavy footed I've been.
99% city/suburb driving.

You guys are getting great mpg’s!! I drive about 9 miles into work in bumper to bumper highway traffic. When not at work it’s all city driving and right now I’m getting 100-115 miles per TANK in my first month of ownership. One time I drove a full tank on the highway and got 285. That was a glorious day.

Yup, I am thrilled when I get anything over 11 USMPG. The best I ever saw on the highway is 21 USMPG (11L/100KM) and that was in Utah - which is fast but flat. IIRC I also may have had a tail wind.

I see some people getting 16 USMG in the city and it just about brings a tear to me eye...

Perhaps it is my penchant for not changing to a more efficient gear as I like the revs.

But, it is such a fun car. I may bitch and whine a bit, but I still love the M3.

No idea, don't even pay attention to it. I drive the car for fun only and about 2K/yr, so whatever, I knew it'd be terrible. I work in the solar power industry to balance my passion for petrol.

100 miles per tank, that's crazy! I was getting good MPG's till I went full E85. right now I'm guessing around 14-15 a tad over 300 per tank.

I don't get it... maybe I'm not doing it to right. I'm at 108K and I'm averaging 21.7 MPG... including very heavy footed driving about 15% of the time.

40mpg... for about 5seconds, as I reset it while on the motorway. Then it dropped to about 23.

A few days later, of around town and motorway driving driving it dropped to about 16.
