Camaro zl1

Anyone have a camaro zl1 or driven one compared to the e90 or e92 m3? I am considering selling my e90 for a camaro zl1 convertible. My e90 is my weekend fun car and I would like a convertible. I like the zl1 for the magnetic dampers, cheaper maintenance, more HP. Any thoughts? Ideas?

At the end of the day it's still a Camaro. Doesn't do much for me as they are cheap and won't last. Sure they have a ton of power but the motor has had some recent issues in the Police package cars blowing up the same motor in mass numbers.

Had a 2018 ZL1 1LE and if I didn't live in the northeast I'd still have it. The chassis is amazing, the power was insane, the handling was outstanding, the fit and finish is light years ahead of the older Camaros but the conditions of these roads took the enjoyment out of it all. It was back breaking and after 8000 miles on these sh!t roads the multimatic shocks started giving out.

OP, I am not sure there are sporty cars out there with significantly lower maintenance costs

If you're looking for a taste of something different that's cool just be aware of the reality of powerful sports cars.

The ZL1 convertible would solve one of the issues with the car...the in-car sight lines. With the top down you could actually see behind you and beside you

Just get a e93M3 and call it a day.

That's what I did and it's way better than a Camaro.

Seriously, a SC will give you more power/better acceleration than a stock ZL1.

I didn't think of that. Not a bad idea.

OP,

Are considering a 5th or 6th gen zl1?

Have you considered a c7 convertible? Superior performance car to the m3.

Don't get an e93. That would be significantly downgrade from your e90.

Both a 5th and 6th gen however there is a dealer close to me that has a 2013 camaro zl1 convertible manual with only 2500 miles. Some old gm plant veteran owned it. Was thinking about doing a test drive at the very least.. lol

I have considered a c7 vet.. those are really cool too. I was hoping for 4 seats so i could bring my daughter around though too. Otherwise i would get a vette.

Yeah I used to have an e93. Eh. E90 is way better. My e90 has a sunroof so it's almost a convertible but has 59k miles and never changed rod bearings. Thinking of trading it in for this ZL1. I don't know, just thinking out loud. Also was looking at m4's but not a huge fan.

Are you referring to a different thread? I don't see anything about an STi here

I decided to keep my m3 or just sell outright. Only thing i think would compare is a new m2? Right?

Probably. Thats about the only thing I'd consider for myself. Yet even though my E92 is 8 years old, I can't really imagine getting rid of it, unless its for an even better E92.

The new Comp is pretty badass, but the regular M2 is no slouch at all. Plus they both sound better than the F8x. And there's nothing else from any manufacturer that I find as interesting. The ZL1 is fast as all hell, and I'm sure it handles, but the view from the cockpit is like looking out of a mail slot. I sat in one at a release demo and I got right back out of it, not even bothering to take it for a ride. And the interior seems to have been made out of whole livestock, not just the skins. Its not as overstuffed as the Mustang - nothing is - but there's barely enough room in the car for me with the seats, console and dash.

How is it that all these different manufacturers make cars that are huge but have no room? My E92 has a huge interior compared to the ZL1, the seats don't look like they were part of a sectional sofa, and the trunk is big enough to fit a Smart ForTwo if you needed a backup vehicle. All LS motors sound the same too, whereas you can get a wide variety of sounds out of the S65 depending on the pipes and the muffler.
