balancing a driveshaft

Hello guys,

I figured I’d post here as I feel you guys would have the better know than the general threads. I’m looking for a company that is able to balance a bmw carbon drive shaft. I really don’t want to get into the reasoning yet but feel there might be a balancing issues. The places around me “Advanced Driveline” and “Precission Shaft Technology” are not able to do so with the BMW flanges.

Any heads up would be awesome.

Thank you

Not sure if that’s an option at this point in time. I purchased it in Feb last year, got it in August of last year and installed it in October. Pulled it off with less than 100 miles due to vibration. Been working with the manufacture and they are saying from my transmission to diff is 10mm off and that’s what’s causing the vibration. I have all new mounts from revshift engine, trans, subframe. AKG diff, Bimmerworld everything else. Brand new OEM flex disk as well. The car has never been in a wreck and it’s reassembled correctly and gone back over at least 3 more time to check issues. Know all about the balance bolt etc. The DS is to manufacture spec and we are just dumbfounded on what the root cause exactly is.

Sad I’ve spent $1500 on a driveshaft and it’s just sitting in its box.

Wanted to send it out and have it checked by an independent company for balance and scratch that off if it was not the issue.

Sucks you have to deal with that.

Seems like some have issues, some don't.
Not worth the risk for me yet.

It’s not been fun as it’s a bit of work to install it. The owner of Revshift has been super helpful and will make a custom flex disk 10mm thinner to see if that will solve the issue. Of course it’s not free but super nice they are willing to help. He also said that a 2004-2006 CTS-V flex would work as it’s also thinner. Just hate to bandaid something to solve a problem I should not be having.

How time consuming is removing/installing a drive shaft in?

Just a thought, but is it possible to link up with someone else in your area and put your driveshaft in their e9x m3 to see if they too get vibration issues? If they don't, I'd assume that would point towards the driveshaft being fine.

That’s super weird because I’ve also called them and sent pictures if the shaft to them. They said they could not do it due to the flanges on each end.

Do you have a contact on who you used?
