/// Roadtrip of a lifetime
Guys-I've been thinking for a while about this one. We've all got the perfect machines which go like stink yet practical. In fact if there ever was a car for a long a$$ roadtrip- it would be in a M3.
All that being said-what are your thoughts on the perfect roadtrip? My ideal one one would be straights with a good balance of /// twisties. Heading from here to the Rockies/Sierra Nevada mountains/Lake Tahoe is one option-but then it does take us through the dreaded straights of OH, KS and such. but thats where our cruise control comes in handy. Discuss away..... ///M Redliners |

That amazing road in Romania where the Top Gear guys went, it was made of amazing banked turns that looked like they were out of the best race tracks in the world... but I don't think we can drive across the Atlantic haha.
I think anywhere in the mountains would be good. Middle/upstate PA has some amazing roads to drive on, I was up there for work last summer and went 45 minutes through the mountains without seeing a single car or getting any radio stations. Absolute serenity.

i wish you luck in organizing this.
most of us work 5 days a week, and some on weekends. Thus we can't afford taking off a lot of days, or a week since most of us would rather save our leave days for family holidays such as X-mas or New Years, etc. I for one can only do weekends, or extended weekends such as Memorial Day, etc when the Federal Govt is closed Perhaps those that are in college and have the summer off would be your target audience.

I am working as well..so the best we can do is a max of 3-4 days (maybe over a long weekend).
A trip past the mississippi is definitely out of question given those schedules... I know there are some great along WV.Western PA. That's close to Pittsburgh...possibly an option? Lets concentrate on the MidAtlantic...keep em' ideas coming. Its a long summer ahead |

A friend and I want to do this as well. We want to film it and make our own little video for finding the best road in the US. Not sure when it will happen though, I don't have too many days off left.

why not do the tail of the dragon and the accompanying road, it's a days drive out there from VA, a day of fun driving, and a day back

As soon as I get past the initial 1200 miles I'm deading down to do the Tail. Maybe the Moonshine too. If you go to the web site there is a great little B&B near there that I plan on staying at. My only concern is doing a road that intense with all the idiots out there that think they can drive. I don't want to go head on with some douche in a Vett.

I also hear there's tons of cops on those roads. I think they could be fun if you drive them in the morning on a wednesday. That's probably the day and time of the week of the least amount of traffic and therefor least amount of cops.
Maybe I should organize a 3 day Skyline Run
