If it makes decent horsepower it's gonna pull out of the hole and hold the gap to the 1/4 mile. Remember we measure fast cars in 1/4 mile times no top speed or mile races. The evo makes lots of torque to which the m3 does not (at least at low rpm)
Wait so are you agreeing with me, "M3 will pull upstairs", you are not walking away from an M3 trapping 114. The evo certainly has more modding power, but at a certain point it becomes apples and oranges, considering the M3 is NA, RWD and bone stock and puts down 350whp.

I came from the JDM world, all I remember was EVO guys complaining that gearing and power. No doubt it's a king of the modified world, up there with the likes of the supra.

No silver with NY plate safe4life. He obviously wasn't driving very safely.

no fucking way. i owned an Evo 8, just no way in hell this happens. Evo may beat V8 M3 to 60 b/c of AWD launch, but from there on, the V8 will pull on the Evo like how frat bros pull bitches' hairs....yeah i went there.

at 60 mph, you pretty much need to be in 3 gear and ready to go. He's probably got an auto which kicked it down to the right gear.

Lol so you went from 5th to 4th and then to 3rd? Why didn't you just go straight to 3rd? The guy probably gained a couple car lengths while you were figuring out what gear to put it in. Refer to my first post, learn to drive.

Keep in mind the aero really affects the Evo at speed, same with Sti's the older models of both cars are complete bricks above 100mph. A 340awhp Evo is not going pull a stock DCT M3 @ speed, period.

I'd bet you ran into a nice heads/cam CTS-V. For him to put significant distance on you he'd need that. Those 6.0 liters can make well over 400whp with simple cam/head modifications. My brothers GTO has an LS6 (bored to 6.3 liters), cam and conservative headwork and it weighs in at 3800lbs and makes 460whp/455tq for reference

I just picked up the m3 2 weeks ago. Im trying to figure the shifting sweet spots. Give me a break. This is also my first DCT. I come from a manual transmission background.

Fair enough, at least your willing to admit your faults. For future runs, just hold down the left paddle then gun it, dct will automatically down shift to the appropriate gear for fastest acceleration. Now we know why you lost and now you know what to do when something like this happens again.

To be more precise, push the gas pedal past the soft "click" you feel, then one tap of the left paddle is all you need and DCT selects the right gear.

You really learn something new everyday didn't even know you could do that. Op dont worry about it dct is gonna take you awhile to figure out but the process is fun and once you understand the transmission you'll have even more fun. Also can we please stfu about evo's much

The car will do the same thing in D mode for you. Just kickdown the accelerator and it'll do the rest.
