Anyone who got the VIN# or Product# for 09' M3 please check in
Hello,
As title says, anyone who got VIN# or Product# for 09' M3, Could you please let me know when did you place an order and received the numbers? The reason why I'm asking is, I've placed an order 09' M3 Coupe at my local dealershop on July, and received my product# on July 23rd. Dealer told me that I would get my M3 around end of October, but my product# isn't working until today. I've checked many times if I got correct#, and it was correct and Dealer keep saying that I would get my M3 on time. But well, I'd like to know how your 09 M3 order went through, so I can get an idea at least. Thank you! |

MG, call either your dealer or BMW NA (800-831-1117) to get the VIN for your car (if it's been issued yet). You can also check your production status at the 800 number. My production number never allowed me to register my car on the website, but as soon as I entered the VIN, it worked. Also, FYI, the 800 number is usually a day or two more current than the website.
My guess is that if your dealer expects delivery in late October, your car will probably be built within the next week or two. Call the 800 number to confirm. |

Thanks for reply TLud!
I just called BMW NA and talked with service rep, and he could find out my informations from that product# I have, But all he could tell me about M3 was nothing but "New order." I will call again next week as he suggested, hope he can give me more details by that time. |

When you placed the order isn't important. When the dealer gets an allocation is what is important. I would ask your dealer if they actually have an allocation for your car or if they are hoping to get one soon. They probably have one since you have a production number, but they should be able to tell you what the build week is for your allocation which will tell you when you can expect your car. I placed my order middle of last month and got a Week 36 build week. I got my production number about a week before it went into production and then got a VIN once it was in production.

Since you have a production number, I would expect they can give you the estimated build week for that slot. Your CA or folks on the 1800 number can tell you if you don't have the current target week. Given the average build/travel times you can then determine if it might arrive when you were expecting it.

I think you ordered your M3 so early that it wasn't really ordered until recently when the deal had an allocation.
The sheet that has the Production Number should have a built date week. Sept = 36,37,38,39,Oct. = 40,41,42,43 I only ordered a 2009 M3 last week when production had already started and my CA found an allocation. So I have a Week 41 build date. Now a Week 38 Build date. Yeah no Octoberfest Build!! If you don't have a sheet with the production number and build week go to your dealer to get one. That will mean he had an allocation and sent in the 2009 M3 order to BMW. Good luck... Cheers, Last edited by nyc_dude; 09-11-2008 at 12:45 AM.. |
