Wow.... 3 years and 50% depreciation. That's not very attractive. That's a fully loaded M3 coupe selling for $35k in 3 years??

I consider myself pretty bearish on car values, but that seems low even to me.

Wow, BMW is obviously serious about disincenting 24 month leases. The residual went from 60% to 54%! However 36 and 48 month leases were only down 1 percentage point.

These numbers are horrible. I need to lease because it works out better for me tax wise. When I leased a 2004 M3 Cab, 3 years, the residual was 62%. Last July I leased a 335 coupe for 2 years and the residual was 70% figuring I would get the M3 next year. Based on these numbers there is no way it makes sense to lease BMWs anymore.

It looks like those happy times are gone for the M3... I got 55% residual for 4 freaking years in May 2004 for a 2004 M3 Coupe.

True, but it makes tax sense for some people to lease. It's really obvious that BMW does NOT want to lease their cars anymore. Yes they offer leasing but it they make it very unattractive,

I will lease for 2 years even if the payment is more than buying it outright.

I like to have the peace of mind of not having to be stuck with a car for so long.

Unless they keep offering 2.9% or lower on the M3 for 2009, then MAYBE I might buy.

My 07 550i residual was 72% with payment of $685 for 2 years... I miss my low payments...

I think that "reasonable" BMW leases will be back by next year once the M3 market is more stable. I think that it really got BMW by surprise the fact that the USA M3 has to be sold at invoice or below within months of realese...

Glad I got mine end of August. Got a grand under invoice and a 2 year lease with a residual of 63%.
