Sorry to step on DKM3's toes, but this one is very easy to solve. You have pics of his plates (I assume you have better ones than the one you posted) -- All you need can be found right here:

http://dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf70.htm

Submit that form, pay the fee, and you will receive his home address and vehicle info -- All of this is public record in CA. Bring your CWP and pay him a visit

nullrouted,

Not stepping on my toes at all! I'm here for you guys.

Sometimes you wish it was that easy. Unfortunately it's not:

"California law (CVC Section 1808.21) provides that residence addresses are confidential and not to be released except to (1) the subject of record; or (2) when a state or federal statute is provided by code name and section number which REQUIRES DMV to release residence addresses. Out-of-state lien sales must cite their state statute by code name and section number AND attach a copy of the statute to their request. For further information, contact the DMV Information Release Unit at (916) 657-8098."

IN ADDITION:

You have to be the right person to request it:

1) Attorney
2) Requesting your OWN
3) Lien Sale [might bare some fruit]
4) A dealer

Quoted directly from the form mentioned above

If you want to you could go to the DMV and try. You never know what's going to happen at the DMV sometimes.

Sorry to rain on the parade.

That means either you need a STATUE authorizing you or to BE him.

For civilians I recommend any one of the dozens of services out there that does reverse lookups etc..etc..

Here's one if you wish: http://www.docusearch.com/reverse-ph...er-lookup.html

logic = phone number reverse lookup -> address & name DONE

In California our outlook toward privacy is pretty incredible sometimes. We've developed our own torts, statutes, and even stranger COAs for it governing privacy BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS in addition to an individual and the state, the 4th Amendment.

Whats sad is there are 3-4 other agencies I know of that are much more scary and worrisome than these 3. LOL These are the 3 that the public are aware of.

I hope the seller comes in her and tells his side.

I don't think this made your list as it's pretty mich public but DARPA terrifies me. Not because of enforcement or information gathering but because, well, SKYNET. I swear it will be a DARPA project that creates a self aware system.

DARPA is up there but not a threat currently. They have some crazy projects going on yearly....

Remember this one? I do....

Absolutely! Losing contact with a scramjet prototype/impulse wave propelled craft that probably could have gone much faster BUT FOR panels ripping off is cause of alarm lol.

For me it's more about the robotic projects and the 10M+ grant for a self aware AI for robotics.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...Iy9vjliFbQD4jQ

AND every single Boston Dynamics project.

Aren't you the guy considering purchasing a 300k yacht in another thread?

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=868169

You seem pretty nonchalant about spending to have to cut into your modding budget for your gal's purse...just saying.

Chalk it up as a loss. You probably only spent several hundred on this wheel. A lesson learned. But sorry to hear you got scammed. Totally unchill.

I saw that and questioned this. I contacted MEEMEZZE (sp) as to not go on a witch hunt.

800 vs 1100? Not that much of a difference. I can see though if he wanted to save a few bucks on a 400-1000 purse. Post count and date of establishment for the account hmmm...

I'm getting off topic here. Since there are three sides I always try to weigh the credibility of both subjects to draw the inference of a probable truth.

Bimmer needs the harness and the module. If that's what he bargained for that's what he should get. Ill see what info I can get but there are plenty of ways to contact someone even without secret means as mentioned above.

By the way with boats I've heard the two best days of owning a boat are as follows:

1) Day you buy it
AND
2) Day you sell it

@ the OP:

Mistake 1 – sending a friend when you should have gone yourself.

Mistake 2 – not taking proper inventory of everything you needed or were supposed to receive

Mistake 3 – Creating a roundabout thread that has no hope of resolving your issue, instead of directly dealing with the problem yourself.

The saying is buyer beware for a reason brochacho

Hindsight is always 20/20

1) payment intermediary with contract terms spelled out completely
2) meet the buyer (optional)
3) smell test
4) judge discrepancy between used cost and new
5) receipt of goods is not an acceptance until they are check and approved (UCC Art 2)

Of course caveat emptor applies but hopefully it shouldn't in our community. I know people will eat people but let's see if equity can be done.

Equity regards as done that which must be done.

Great points -- I did not scroll down far enough into the doc to notice the section on confidential addresses. However, he should still be able to get the guy's real name (if he doesn't already have it) via the DMV (if not the address) based on the plate. From there, there are other public records avenues that can be explored to eventually find out his address. I assume OP also has his phone number -- this can also be used to potentially track him down with reverse phone lookups and the like. Could also go back through all of MMEZZ (or whatever his name was) posts on the forum looking for images that may have GPS EXIF data and hope he took them at his house.

I'm subscribed to this thread for sure... this should be an interesting one.

Null I like you! PM me would love to touch base with an individual such as yourself.

The name might not be released as well (yet another statue). The license plate is covered in my post above unforunately.

See who you have to be to apply for it in my previous post.

You never know with the DMV that's why I recommend walking in and seeing what you can get. Then just spend the money and use one of those services I listed and get as much information and a background check etc etc...

Geotagging information is another good point as well which I have used in the past.

The name might not be his but it's a starting point and I would begin with the reverse lookup which would probably lead to his dad being the named individual depending on age.

Regardless Bimmer you have various avenues should you wish to explore them.

There are sites online where you can get an address through a license plate....you just give them an "excuse" for obtaining it.

Showing up at the guys front door would probably not end well though.

I would agreed with the idea of confrontation (walking up to him at his house) not being the best idea.
