Anything more (or less) would therefore be sub-optimal.

This is a necessity for us here in the Middle-East. I'll be in touch shortly.

Kaiv,

We wanted to show how oil temps being affected when the car is driven hard. It doesn't matter which track it was. You can see RPMs and the time is spent on the track.

If you look carefully at the actual first 3 graphs you will see that after 5min being at the track the temps on the first two graphs climbed up and were not stable through out the session. Same with the water temps.

If you look at the graph with Alekshop oil cooler you will see that after 5min at the track oil and water temps remained very very stable and consistent.

We used track time for the purpose of driving the car to the limits and demonstrate how the our oil cooler compares to other coolers. It's not designed to be used at the track only. Street driven and supercharged cars will benefit as well. Lower oil temps will prolong the life of your engine.

We are not saying this is the product you must have. We just want to show how it performs compare to what else is on the market.

The reason this cooler was developed is because we were struggling to find one that will reduce oil temps.

We have not seen yet any other company who makes aftermarket oil coolers for E9X M3 to post any kind of data showing how their oil coolers perform.

At this point we sold over 20 units to our customers who reported back with nothing but excellent feedback.

Aleks.

The only thing I can extrapolate from those data is that, at ~73°F outside/ambient temperature, Alekshop oil cooler seems to run around 20 to 25°F cooler than stock oil cooler. From that, then, it can be projected that Alekshop oil cooler might run at around 255~260°F when outside/ambient termperature is 95+ °F, which if true, would be awesome. But, I’d still want to see data from track sessions actually run at 95+ °F outside/ambient temperature.
We were trying to finish testing and development ASAP to test in in 90F+ weather conditions but unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to do so.

Our customer spent 2 days at the track in 85F+ weather running 10 sessions each day (2 drivers ). He said temps didn't go over 240F. But I don't have any logged files to back it up. In any case this oil cooler is a huge improvement over stock

I think this is a nice piece of engineering and probably is effective.

It's going to be really difficult to get back-to-back comparison testing. I made the mistake of comparing pre - post oil cooler install (Germany M24 oil cooler) from two different tracks. Despite temps being similar, guess what? The track actually makes a huge difference in oil temps. No big surprise, but those of you wanting direct comparisons of same day, same track comparisons will probably never get the data you desire.

so how come no one is trying to develop a powersteering cooler for this car? That cooler is even worse than the oil cooler and this seems to be a more necessary upgrade than the engine oil cooler

BMW motor sports makes one. It is a GT4 cooler and a direct bolt in but even it is not effective in 100F temps running 6-8 sessions per day.

how much is it and where is it sold? does it prevent the fluid from seeping out of the vent hole?

The BMW GT4 power steering cooler is crazy expensive, though. Isn't it like $1000? Seems like a lot of a little PS cooler.

There are a handful of bmw motor sports dealers in the US. It helps but is not 100% effective in high heat and hard driving.

It was about $800. It looks like they took an oem one and custom welded two more rows on top with much finer fins

I'd be more concerned about my engine as opposed to PS. Is PS temp going to put you into limp mode?

Aleks, does this have any impact on the time it takes the engine oil to warm up to preparing temp from cold start? Or does the M3 have a thermostat that bypasses the cooler until the oil temps reach 210 F?

Agreed. It would be nice if someone came out with a larger oil and PS cooler in one unit.

And is there a Group Buy going on?

Power steering is using a CHF oil and therefore can't be combined in one unit with the oil cooler.

Not too many AA SCed cars in our area so we couldn't get it test fitted. But works well with ESS Tuning and VF kits.
