My IMPRESSION also but that is just mine. You can ask the dealer but definitely they will tell you that it is selling very well so that they can mark it up. You can get the new M3 at MSRP or if you are really good maybe a few hundreds less. Unless you live in those rich community/city/state that don't mind just as long as they get their new car NOW.

The sales data was close to 50/50 for the M3. With more upscale cars its far more heavily paddle shift heavy.

M3 coupe more desirable than sedan

I believe the only reason that the M3 on ebay is being slightly discounted, is because it's a sedan. Most people want the coupe and I haven't heard of any discounts below sticker on coupes. And DCT transmission cars are going for 5K to 10K over MSRP because they are more scarce than the 6-speed.

I was talking about Europe when I said the majority were manuals, I can't speak for the US market but as most of their cars in the mainstream are automatics the chances are the uptake of semi-autos will be equally high.

Though I don't have any factual evidence to back up my claim the only evidence I have is from the two dealers I know and asked in my area and both stated that in Europe the uptake of SMG in M3's was notable smaller than the manual.

You should go talk with the M brand manager then. He said in the recorded inteview that manuals WERE NOT SELLING well in europe. And as a result of the poor sales and perception of the German office were viewed as the choice of those that were just cheap.

Only one person's opinion and feel free to disagree.
Until now there was only one tranny available ( manual ), and since the release of the car most people bought 6MT, but after the debut of M-DKG most people (not everyone) are now buying M-DKG even if it costs more 4500 Euros.
I believe that the choice between the two transmissions is not about money, i think that a 6MT guy that loves the stick will always buy 6MT for the pleasure of changing is own gears.

I do agree with your opinion, but from now on BMW will sell more M3 with DKG. Just my opinion.

Best Regards, Maika

They sold 1000 in March according to Larry Koch. That seems like a lot to me.

Dude, what are you talking about. From what I have seen there are almost double the amount of M3's passing through dealers than there was in 2001.

Whats your point? That dealers are having trouble getting rid of there demos because 80% of BMW M3 buyers wanted a personally specced car...WOW big surprise

I have no way of checking his numbers, but he works for BMW NA, I'm sure he knows the real number. I think he actually said "around 1000".

Most Dealer Demos or Dealer Specced cars are new... But when you have 60+K to spend on a car 80%+ of buyers are going to spec their own.

Face the fact that the cars sitting on show room floors are dealer specced demos that nobody wants... especially when BMW is flooding the market with M3's. Keep in mind BMW is planning to sell 50K of these babies in the US alone. Sales figures from people a lot smarter than you or me.

It depends..... would you get MDCT but without a CF roof? Would you give up 19's... would be willing to get a color you dont want even though you are spending 60+K? See my point yet?

i see your point, but if i take mdct for 60k, iīm saving 10k, but anyway thatīs not my point, what trying to determined if they are in stock at the dealers because they are not mdct. or its because of the bad economy situation around the world.

I dont think its either... I think its because most buyers are speccing their own cars and the initial quota the dealers got are sitting...
