Front Brake Ducts on 2010 e92?

I just finished putting Performance Friction Z-rated pads on my car and I noticed some kind of vent on the front side of the wheel well. I've not been able to find any pictures of the area and I was too dumb to take a picture with the wheels off. They looked like some kind of duct, did BMW add these to the 2010?

I believe that's the outlet of the gearbox cooler.
