Help! Side grill fell into the side hole.

I received my matte black side grills and decided to install them. It was really tough to get them off, but when I did, the black piece that holds the lighting fell into the bottom of the hole in the vent. How or what should I do to get this piece out? Thanks in advance.

The same thing happened to me. Here's what you do; using the flashlight in the glove box provided to you by the fine people at BMW, locate the piece within your front fender. Then using a coat hanger or long piece of sturdy wire, bend a hook at the bottom of it and carefully pull out the plastic piece that fell in.

It will take some patience but it will work. It did for me and only took about 10 minutes or so.

Cheers!

Thanks for your response. I actually did do this before posting and got 1 of the pieces out, but the black piece was into 2 pieces and I cannot find the other one.

Same thing happened, got the chrome piece out but couldn't get the black piece out with the coat hanger...borrowed a spring loaded, flexible mechanics claw to grab it and yank it out...what a pain...

not in mine, I looked. I even unsnaped the back of the glovebox to look. There is nothing on the left side but a shock and some kind of clamp on the backside of the glovebox face that looks like it could hold a small mag lite.
What does the BMW light look like?

When Fifthstreet' cap fell, we used a cardboard with double sided tape at the end to take it out.
