I'm not retired but I get extremely bored during this pandemic with lockdowns and isolation so I replaced my entire sewer line under the slab in my basement. It was clay pipe and now I have pvc and abs. It was back breaking work chipping the floor and digging but I had already paid someone to do outside the house and didn't want to spend another $10k and I wanted to challenge my mind and body.

Keep your brain active and just because you were at the same company doesn't mean you are not attractive to employers. Quite the opposite it shows loyalty. The labour market is pretty hot, especially if you want to jump ship into the trades

Maybe not odd jobs but, for me:
1. Side hustle w/ photography (incl stock photography). I've already got good glass so, even if I change camera bodies, I have a good portion of the base investment already covered. I'd certainly have time, which is the thing I have been lacking.

2. I'm also getting interested in woodworking and, if kept to it, maybe would have enough skill for side projects.

3. Small engine repair is something I've wanted to get into as well.

4. A dog rescue is something I've thought of as well, but have never researched the barrier(s) to entry. Perhaps just fostering dogs, like others have stated for themselves, would be enough for me.

I would love to get into building my own cars. Unfortunately I have no idea what the landscape will be in 15-20 years. We may all be riding as passengers in soulless self-driving electric cars.

Never! I'm confident that Big Oil will still have enough clout to allow us to honor the dinosaurs and flora that gave their lives.

I could see myself doing heavy equipment operator possibly, as long as it isn't physically strenuous at that point since I'll be old.

I've sort of wanted to be operating an excavator for a while now. I think it would be a ton of fun. Rented a mini excavator for some work around the house and I enjoyed it a lot.

I think I remember seeing an episode of Shark Tank where they pitched a business about having an "adult" sandbox theme park type thing and you could operate heavy machinery just for the hell of it. Wonder if that still exists....

Yikes, thats a tough one neighbor. I struggle with this time to time. I only know Autobody my 25yr career. If I ever had to switch careers I dont think I could make the same income b/c I dont have another skillset. I'm sure I could be a manager in another field but no clue what that would be. I wish you the best, luckily you're not dying for that buck right now

Is Todd Hoffman mining gold in Alaska or the Klondike again? You could get a pay check to sign onto his crew and aimlessly drive excavators and dozers around.....

This is the type of random shit I need to find when I'm retired. Jobs that make no sense but it's something weird/interesting to do and as a bonus you might even get paid.

I'd like to snow plow in the winter. Now if I could just figure out how to attach a plow to the front of the Stinger..

Shouldn't be too difficult.

Not a Stinger, but you get the idea...

Here's a few things in no particular order that I'd like to try out just for the hell of it once I'm retired. The beauty of it is I can just quit if I don't like something.

1) Car Salesman - I'd love to try this out to get an in with the industry, but without the pressure to sell to support my livelihood (or to not get fired).

2) Turo business - I like the idea of purchasing cars as an investment
to rent out on Turo. And if there's downtime where people aren't renting? I get to enjoy my pick of daily driver

3) Participating in various focus groups - Not really a "job", but seems like an interesting thing to do and be compensated for.

4) Photography - I love the idea of photographing cars and/or landscapes.

5) Start a travel blog - Because I love travel, and I'm hoping to do a lot more of it in retirement
I already do #3. I am part of McCormics focus groups.

They send me some spices or products to test for a week and then I report back and they compensate me with a gift card.

one of my friend quit his engineer job, he was well paid and he was very competent.

He started a fish farm, and sell quality fish to restaurant nearby.
Based on the fact, that soon enough oceans will be empty, and restaurant can call for few hours killed fresh fish.
