No beeping sound when lock/unlocking anymore
My car used to make the beeping sound when I unlock/lock the doors of my car, but it doesn't make the sound any more. I tried adjusting the settings in the idrive, checking and unchecking the acoustic signal box and it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone know how to fix this? A few weeks ago, I had to jump start my car because I was away for a few weeks on vacation. I'm going to assume this has something to do with the programming of the battery? |

When you lock the car does the clown nose under the mirror flash? It would be a good sign of whether or not the alarm system In General is working.
If you don’t have this lock the car with the window down a bit then open the door and see if it goes off. |

It's definitely the battery... when it's not holding a proper charge there will be things like the beeping that shut down to save battery power I'm assuming. I've noticed that the headlights don't turn on as well upon unlocking the car when my battery is on the way out.

The clown nose does flash and I believe the alarm system is working, it's just that the acoustic signal is not functioning.

Not sure about BMWs, but my Subaru would go from silent to audible by holding the lock/unlock buttons down at the same time for 5 seconds. Sometimes my keys would press against the remote in my pocket and change the setting. It's drove me nuts. Again, not sure about BMW's key fob / alarming systems, but worth looking into.

Fair enough. Every time I've had your issue (both in my 1er and E90) it's been battery related... mainly from not driving it enough and the low draw drains it slightly, or due to the age of the battery. I'm assuming it's still not beeping after you had to jump it?

Not sure if you have Comfort Access, but if you do, make sure that you LOCK your car even if it is in your garage. The analogy given to me is that if your car has C/A and it is not locked, it is like a dog with a bone waiting for you to come and play ... it is ready to go, especially if the key is near by as the C/A is draining the battery.
With that in mind, lock the car at every opportunity and get a battery tender and hook-it up whenever possible, especially when on vaca or not driving for more than a few days.
