DCT GT Flash

In attempted this flash for the first time tonight on a 2011 E93, and received an error when WinKFP was trying to pull up the ZB (7610762). I have v55 Datens installed, and have coded numerous other things prior to this (including B3 on 335s).

I was hoping someone could help me out to make sure I'm using the proper ZB. Customer didn't want the Euro flash, which WinKFP did find.

I successfully coded mine tonight with 2.53.3 SP DATEN. Are you trying to recode with 7610762?

If so, that is wrong I believe. You need to be using GS40 ZUSB 7845773.

This is one hell of a nice upgrade to the DCT. I was not expecting the massive difference!

Slightly faster shifts, trans now starts in automatic mode rather than manual, and remembers your last shift mode (1-6). Launch control is also different IIRC.

There are several vendors here who will do it for <$200. I've not seen a DIY guide.

Or, you can get the Dinan DCT tune which is very similar and warrantied.

My bad, I had that backwards.

Also, the engagement into reverse is a bit faster.

Get the latest (v56) sp_daten and code 7848442 which is the newest GTS software version.

What do you mean by code 7848442? I have all the software working and have coded normal options successfully. Do I need any files for the DCT Flash? Thanks.

-Load Winkpf software

-Press (F1) comfort mode

-Press (F3) Update ZUSB

-Choose ECU GS40

-Press (F2) Choose ZUSB

-Choose ECU GS40 and next to it there will be ZB-Numbers..Find 7845773

-Click ok

-If you have done it correctly so far you will see at the top Assembly Identification number 7845773 (M3 GTS assembly line file) and it will automatically reference the software 7845773

-Press (F4) Enter VIN ( make sure you double check you have entered the correct VIN numbers)

-click ok

-Press DONE (F8)

-Press (F3) Program

-Pop up window will say you can code the ECU 63 more times, click ok

-Flashing begins and you will have to wait till it reaches 100%

-once it reaches 100% it will pop up again saying you have 62 more times to program the ECU, click ok

-Programming again starts, wait until this reaches 100%

-If everything is done correctly, then you will get a pop up screen saying programming done, click ok

+1 would like to know more information about that.

I wouldn't risk just flashing random software number.

It's not just a random software update number. If you know how to follow the links in the data files you will find that it is a newer version of 7845773. I do not know what the differences are but if your GS40 supports 5773 it should support 8442. I have run both on my E92 and although I can't really tell any difference, I'm happy to be running the latest.

How are people finding the latest zb numbers for certain part numbers which are not flashed from the factory?

I know how to find the latest DME zb#'s using the kmm_atsh file, and also using winkfp to find the latest zb number for all other modules.

1. But how does one find the latest zb#'s for say the DCT euro or DCT GT flash without actually having it already installed? Is there another file I can trace?

2. How did people find the DCT GT zb number to flash in the first place (if they didnt have a donor car to pull it off from)?

Someone from the community who has the hardware/software loaded from the factory typically shares the information from their car. From there, you can trace the updates by looking at the history files within that particular module.
