pinging noise coming from under car

I'm hearing 2-3 pings everytime I accelerate or decelerate, sounds like its coming from under the car, either in the middle or towards the rear end. my mechanic says it could be the driveshaft although he says it's difficult to confirm.

i have an e92 with 64k miles, I first noticed the pings at around 60k miles. anyone else experience this same noise?

What fuel you using? Try changing your fuel to a higher octane one?

I would highly suggest you have the center bearing support checked out. Mine just took a poop and it sounds and feels like ur going over a rumble strip. Mine is so bad that 1. I can't drive the car and 2. The whole car violently shakes at 30mph and above. Part is in order and takes two weeks to get from Germany.
Btw, my car has 74k miles but the symptoms started at around 60k.

this sounds like it could be the issue, because that's exactly where the noise is coming from. thanks for the help!

Could be a number of components on the drive shaft. Mine made same noise every time I would let clutch out to start moving would sound like you hit hollow driveshaft with a hammer. And it got progressively worse. Visual inspection of components was good and no play in anything. Rather than guess which part it was I changed whole driveshaft. About $750 and comes with all components related. Install is about an hour. NO MORE NOISE!
And I tried the tsb on lubing the input shaft to diff....didn't do anything. That's when I decided to just change whole driveshaft.
