New M3 Owner!
I just bought my 4th BMW and excited about this one.
2011 e93 convertible Jerez Black Red Interior Convenience Package 2 Winter Package Technology Package Manual 15k miles $49k Few questions for you (Thanks in advance). 1. Recommend a good extended warranty company? 2. Rubber (wet) floor mats. Anyone have any M3 branded mats that work well? 3. Any upgrades you feel is a must for the car? (Stereo, exhaust, Chips, etc). The stereo sounds pretty good as is but lacks bass. Thank you! Last edited by MastahX; 07-29-2014 at 02:07 PM.. |

Welcome! Got any pictures?
1. I had BMW's CPO and platinum (I think that's what it was) extended warranty program. Both were great - albeit a little expensive, but worth not having to hassle with third parties that dealerships aren't familiar with. I hear USAA is great, as well. 2. Try weather tech. I have them in all my cars for the winter time around here. 3. You can go a million different ways to approach how you want to modify your car. I suggest checking out the photo gallery to see how other E93's look and build up a "taste profile", if you will, for yourself.

1. Depends on your dealership. If they are assholes about every repair, go ahead and go with the cheaper 3rd party offers. Otherwise, if you have a good relationship, go ahead and pay the premium for the BMW coverage to avoid dickwad 3rd party agents nitpicking your claim.
If I were to get a warranty, I'd go with BMW, since my dealership just does whatever I ask them to do with nary an arched eyebrow. Of course, there is always the debate of whether warranty is worth the quite exorbitant cost. Maybe get powertrain for bearings/DCT peace of mind, and call it a day? These cars are pretty bulletproof and most common problems can be resolved with a DIY. 2. No specific M-branded ones, I'm afraid. You could probably fit the BMW Performance mats from the base 3. WeatherTech is probably your best bet. I use custom InPelle leather mats summer and winter, they seem to hold up okay. 3. Your cup runeth over here. The car definitely benefits from a nicer exhaust (factory is too heavy, has bulbous ugly mufflers, too small tips and is way too quiet), and you have TONS of options here. M Performance exhaust helps with weight, tips and sound, but still has the ugly mufflers, is very thin and prone to cracking, and IMO becomes a raspy mess whenever you mess with mid-section. You could get the same sound by doing the ACM muffler mod for a couple of hundred bucks, and then just replace the tips with whatever you want. You don't save the 20lbs or whatever it is, but you get to keep ~$2.5K in your pocket and not worry about your exhaust falling apart. I went with Dinan because it saved me roughly the same amount of weight as the MPE, has much smaller and nicer mufflers, I wanted black tips, it has a nice sound without drone, and as you mess with the midsection it becomes more and more epic sounding (no car sounds as good as one with a full Dinan exhaust, IMO, their straight pipe approach is the most unique [although having two fake tips is a legitimate criticism of this approach]). Otherwise, best bang for your buck mods are test pipes and a tune. Then you have pulleys, intake (although only Gruppe M probably does anything), etc, but none of these things are "must have". I guess a rear camera is good, too. Last edited by modkrazy; 07-30-2014 at 01:35 PM.. |
