2013 > 2011

So... I was a proud owner of a 2011 e92 m3. I traded it in for a 2013 e92 m3. pretty much same car. same options, etc. my 2013 feels like it pulls a lot harder than the 2011 did. just saying....

I believe lots of the 2011 guys said the same thing vs 08-09s. I thought it was a cloud of smoke, but I guess dyno pulls back this thought.

Placebo effect? Just saying...

But seriously, new plugs etc may make the car feel more responsive.

Probably it is nothing besides a new car vs old car...... How many miles did your 2011 had?

On a second note, it still have no idea why anyone would trade in a 2011 for a 2013?

I did the same thing, and with 3k on the odometer, this car feals faster than my 09. The shifting mechanism is a little better and there are hardly any squeaks, and rattles comared my 09. Seems to be better and the MPG is way up on my 13 compared to my 09. 09 was running 12.5 and now I'm at 14.5.

Sounds like a mind trick. You made yourself believe that it is faster, better, roomier, whatever. There has been quite a few posts like this lately. Is there something you don't like about your current car?

+1 I too cant seem to understand this. Unless one really hated the options/color combo on the previous car, OR you were switching transmission. I personally think its a waste of money but thats just my opinio...live and let live

nothing wrong with a switch from a 2011 to a 2013- worth it for the auto stop/start button

The same effect is observed when you get a new pair of tennis shoes. They make you run faster. That's just good science.

I think I might have found the reason!!! It's because your 2013 is, not one but two years, newer!!!

I am glad I didn't get one of the later 2011s with the auto start/stop. It's a little annoying on the X3 having to turn it off when I don't want it to work

I can't imagine BMW hasn't tweaked and/or improved something in this car in 6 years to make it a little faster.

my monthly payment on the 2011 was 36% more than the monthly payment on my 2013. also, the residual on the 2011 was garbage because my lease was not done properly so if i bought my 2011 out at the end of the lease, the total cash out on it would have been 104k. on my 2013, if i buy it out at lease end, it would cost me ~2k more than if i financed it. so now i have an option of keeping it at lease end.

i dont think its placebo effect. i legit think it is faster. going to buy the GPS thing and do some test runs with my buddies who have 2011 and we'll see whats faster.

and my 2011 had auto start stop i just never used it ahaha

Not sure what the dif would be besides newer S Plugs to make it feel that way, but enjoy the new ride.

If the 2011's ECU had never been updated it could just be that the 2013 is running 240E. That and it has some thousands of miles less on the odometer.

My 2010 is now running 240E plus the BPM tune and it is almost like a different car. My car only has 4,744 miles too so it's almost new.

There is no reason to believe that BMW made any improvements other than in software. Their decontenting and changes in materials tell a different story, one of decreasing unit cost.

my 2011 was updated to 230E before I sold it and it had the evolve tune on top of that, but this still pulls harder than that lol.

I actually traded a 2012 with 2000 KM on the odometer with MT in for a 2011 with 20 KM on the odometer with M-DCT.

Just saying ...

You might say WTF ... Well wife wanted to go to one car and agreed to drive the M3 with DCT ... Then changed her mind ... What can I say ... Woman

As for more or less pull ... I found no difference except smoother shifting

In all seriousness, though, this means that my '11 ZCP is now an '11 "Civic."

So what about the guys with the '08-'12 non-ZCP cars, the original Civics? Do they now have Yugos?
