what size 18" tires

Sorry for the dumb question, I have tried to search but no luck. Got a set of 18x10 arc8 and I think I need 275/35/18? Looking at the Hankook Ventus Evo12. Thanks for the help.

that's a good size. Pretty much a standard setup. Depending on actual dimensions on the tire you could do 285/30 or 295/30.

Yup, 275/35 is perfect.

I would honestly spring for a better performing tire. What is your performance criteria?

Once a month driver. I have run through 3 sets of the tires and for the price vs performance they are nice. Had a set of pss at first and they were loud and stiff

Without knowing wheel offset and suspension setup, it's hard to say exactly what would work, but the 275/35R18 sizing seems to fit for a lot of people.

The Evo12 isn't a top-of-the-line tire and is an old design but if you just want something inexpensive for a DD I'm sure it's fine. There are tons of choices in that size if you decide you want to step up to something better such as the Pilot Sport 4S, ExtremeContact Sport, or even more track-focused tires like the RE-71R or R-S4.

I did look at the rs4. I’m thinking of doing some track days this year so I may go that route. Only reason I like the evo is they are decent and cheap for what I do. I think the arc8 is a 25 offset, not sure about the tires though. I appreciate everyone’s help

The R-S4 is a very sticky tire but you will sacrifice a decent amount of wet grip, ride comfort, and road noise over the Evos. I don't think I would bother with the R-S4 unless you plan to do a lot of track events.

I have the 19" OEM rims and am looking for a little softer ride since the roads around here are crap. I think I am going to get the Apex ARC-8 18" but am trying to figure out if I should get all 4 the same width or large rear wheels. I won't be taking this to the track. Second question is would the Hankook Ventus Evo12 good for quite and better "softer" ride? Is there another that is a better option for me?

Thanks for any suggestions!

You will be changing the handling characteristics with a "square" setup, but you can also rotate wheels and tires if you do this and stretch their life out. It's a very different look that some people don't like.

I can't speak to ride quality of that specific tire, but Tire Rack's website has the video tests and reviews that often speak about impact noise and similar subjective traits. A taller sidewall will give a better ride, but also reduce steering responsiveness.

I’m running 18 X9.5 ET23 fronts, lowered on Eibach Pro-Kit currently fitted out with 265/35X18 PSS. I am considering going up to 275/35 at the next change. With 275s up front, do you have rubbing issues or do you need more than stock spec camber for clearance? Thanks!

Ok, I was reading about the square setup, and looks like most people do that so they can take the car to the track. I don't think I want to change the driving characteristics so guess will stay with the wider rears. I will check out tire rack too and see if I can get some good reviews. Thanks for the comments.

I am the same in that I did not want to change the driving characteristics but like you are thinking, moved from 19" to 18" and can report that the ride comfort is certainly better. For a street driven car, you're not giving up any of the grip, providing you have good rubber. I love the looks of the 18s and fat tires too!

In a staggered setup on 18s, most people seem to go for 265/35 front, 285/35 rear but this is slightly shorter than stock. To get closest to the original tire diameter, you'd need to go with a 275/35 f, 295/35 r - hence my query in post #11. From what I've read, the 295 rear on a 10.5" ET25 wheel works without rubbing on a slightly lowered car. Not sure about the 275 (on ET23) up front. Any input here would be appreciated ....
