Question Code EDC or Macht Schnell Over-ride kit

Ok,

So its about 2 months post Clubsport install and can't stand the EDC error any longer.

Finally some time to work on the car, resolving this is top priority.

Simple : Better to code EDC error - or run MS kit in trunk?

Have pre-existing coding done to car : all minor necessities done back East by trustworthy coder. Don't know of any local reputable coders here in AZ experienced with EDC coding on E92 platforms. Don't want other coding options wiped clean - and also want to be able to reverse EDC function when time comes to return to stock.

Not to offend, but not big on MS brand and have read of installation errors in instructions provided - though I like the idea of plug & play, as well as keeping under hood clean (module free).

So, whats the better option?

Code it. I did a bunch of digging as I am about to install some KW CS into my car, as well as code out the EDC. The best description I found was here:
http://www. b m w c o d i n g . c o m/showthread.php?497-E89-Disable-EDC-(Electronic-Damper-Control)/page5

From (b m w c o d i n g .com):

4) clear errors in INPA

KOMBI:
EDCK_ALIVE_ZAEHLER = nicht_aktiv
EDCK_ID_MONITOR = nicht_aktiv
CIC:
EDC_CIC = nicht_aktiv

So far, so good. Thanks for all the info in this thread!

I don't mean those to be instructions but rather a detailed step by step of what I did.

1) Disconnect EDC module. It's located on the passenger side rear quarter panel, accessible through the trunk. It's the module with 2 connectors (white and blue). Can't miss it.
2) Remove option $233 from Vehicle Order in CAS using FA_write; then change ECU and FA_write the NFRM.
3) In KOMBI set EDCK_ALIVE_ZAEHLER to nicht_aktiv and EDCK_ID_MONITOR to nicht_aktiv.
4) In CAPPL set EDC to nicht_aktiv.

(This car didn't have a CIC module, so no EDC_CIC, however it did have EDC in CAPPL)

Hope this helps!

Interested to hear what others have to say about this as well. The other option I considered was the BPM Sport coding (http://www.bpmsport.com/services/cod...l?options=cart), but it's $300 and I think others can code this for significantly cheaper.

Buy a KDcan cable and customize yourself. A KDcan cable and software is $35 on eBay. I just updated my firmware on my EDC module. Didn't notice any changes but the coding is simple to look through in NCSExpert. I think you pretty much got it all correct in the above posts.

If you can run windows in parallel or VM, it's easy enough to set up the software, and there's a few quick tuts out there.

Seems all the votes have been in favor of coding out. Question :

Will EDC need to be recoded "ON" when/ if returning to stock?

I had mine coded off. And yes it will need to be coded back on and the module will need to be plugged back in as well.

The way we do it, you don't have to have it coded back

I don't mind having to code back - as will not be selling the car anytime soon. The remote coding aspect is the bugaboo as I don't use a windows - and don't want to run parallel software on my Mac.

It's pretty simple I know - unfortunately I have yet to come across any local coders in AZ.

If anyone knows of a reputable contact please don't hesitate to list or PM.

Who did your coding?

And is it as simple to TURN BACK ON EDC function as it is off?

Yes I would imagine so. Tom@EAS did the coding

VO Coding

Thanks so much for the information here. This was super easy.

2010 E90 M3 (LCI)
1) Remove VO code $233 from CAS and NFRM
2) Unplug EDC control unit in the trunk - passenger side, behind the liner (just the blue plug)
3) Code the car (i.e., use Process ECU function)
4) Code KOMBI: EDCK_ALIVE_ZAEHLER = nicht_aktiv EDCK_ID_MONITOR = nicht_aktiv CIC: EDC_CIC = nicht_aktiv

My EDC struts are blown, KW Clubsport is a 1000% improvement over stock ride with blown struts. Rides similar to EDC firm.

Can't wait to hit the track. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

"if" is the key word here. Installing a freeware VM on a Mac is not easy unless you want to pay for it.

Just dual boot win 10 if it's an intel mac. It probably was since this was years ago before the m1 chip even. I just wanted to post so people referring to this thread to code their cars now or in the future can understand that it is free to run win 10 on an intel mac. Just use bootcamp and install windows without a key because all it does is leave a watermark in the right corner saying to activate windows with no functionality loss. I run a 2012 MBP with win 10 unactivated and I run ista, inpa, ncs, tool32 etc.
