I still break my neck every time I see an e9x M, and I live in socal which means I see at least 20 M3s every day. The F8x M cars do look really nice, but the E9x Ms aren't going away yet. They are still one of the better looking cars on the road, especially in Alpine White. Now I'm pitching a tent.

No I don't, but there is a caveat. The potential bearing issues have put a damper on my ownership. I owned a 2011 M3 ZCP coupe and it was flawless to the time I sold it with 30k miles. If I keep the 2013 after my lease is up, I will definitely crack it open to replace with the new Clevite bearings. As far as the car looking dated, I say no way. The new M3/4 is so over styled in my tastes that it kind of turned me off. It doesn't mean that I will never get a M4, it may just be a decision of economics at the time.

I feel like the E9X has gotten better with age.
When it was first released it took a little while to get used to. By the time LCI came around, all the ones on the street were modded to the point where it started to get old seeing so many around. But now it has come to a point where seeing a clean OEM(+) E9X M3 really catches my eye. Looks far from dated at this point. Still a very fresh design.

I still love the look of the e36 and e46 m3, especially cleanly modded ones. I don't think the e9x looks dated at all. the m4 will always be there, enjoy your e9x for what it offers and move on when your over it.

As mine is a keeper, there's no hurry at all. At some point, if the car buying bug bites me, I'll be looking at three pedal candidates; hopefully there will be some NA options, but if not maybe a look backward will be where I find one that satisfies the driving soul. If buying in the short term, that new flat plane Stang would get a look, the Alfa 4C if AR puts a third pedal in the model, and the Cayman GTS looks interesting too.

No way. After reading nearly every comparo and review, I just got an extended warranty to 100k, at that time I will do an overhaul of the engine and look for a long-term storage solution and rotate with whatever I have (the GT350, the Vette and Porsches are the only things below 180k that excite me today). While I still want to drive the new car, it's clear that an overwhelming consensus opinion has not been reached from some very well respected reviewers and the car is losing its fair share of comparos, similar to other recent BMWs. I would have been completely comfortable buying the E90 without a test drive (the test drives I did have were a joke anyway and I relied on what other well respected reviews and publications have said) as I would any 911, as nearly everyone gushed over them and were beyond reproach. With the new car, I would at minimum need to take it on a hard drive in the twistys or better yet on the track. Having driven an F430 and Gallardo, I can say that if Ferrari had created a sedan, it would feel a lot like the E90 M3.

I'll be honest: I think the F80 M3 looks awesome, but the F82 M4 looks like ass. If my E92 were stock, I could see the appeal, but with the mods I've put in it (and will soon add), there's no way. Like Fog, my long-term plan is to drive this car for as long as possible. When this engine wears out, I'd like to drop in a Dinan 4.6 stroker or their bored 4.2 with some cams and a 3.45 diff. Shed weight, add power, fix what breaks. Probably the only other cars that excite me right now are the Carrera GTS, Cayman GTS, or the 991 GT3. But I told my wife when I got the M3 that I wouldn't buy a different car if we had $1 million in the bank, so I guess I'll have to wait until we have $2 million. |

I check Enthusiast Auto from time to time and their inventory varies.

I took my wife out for dinner last week in my 09 E92. The valet dude almost wet himself when he brought it back. He said that is the first time I have driven one of those and it is beautiful. So it can't be too dated.

This!!! While I like the design and interior of the new M3/M4 I had my heart set on the high revving V8 in the E9X and once the new ones came out and people "upgraded" I was able to get my ideal spec'd E92. Only had it for about a week and a half but I love it.

I regretted buying an 11 after having an 08. Sold it and bought an F80 last month. Couldnt be happier. The engine and chassis are phenominal. The 6mt is much better then my 08. I have MPE and to me the car sounds great. I enjoyed my e9xs while I had them but i was bored and didnt want to SC to move the power up.
