First time at Infineon/Sears Point- Please Critique Video

What am I doing right? What am I doing wrong?

First time at Infineon this weekend and had a blast. Have 2 prior days at Thunderhill so not much experience and have a lot to learn. MDM mode. DCT e90 m3- all stock but exhaust. 2:06 was my best, followed by a bunch of 2:08ish times.

Experienced some vibration during braking so wasn't fully confident with brakes. Vibration is now felt after track day on the street so need to look into it.

Debating turning traction control off next time since I definitely felt it kick in a few times when I didn't want it to. However, also felt it kick in at Thunderhill and pretty sure it kept me on the track.. When/where is the right time to turn it fully off?

I think you did pretty well!

I am no pro driver so take my advice for what it's worth! but let me tell you a couple places where my line differs the most from yours:

_I usually stay left into turn 1 longer, turn into turn 2 a bit later and track out more

_turn 7: I personally like to take one single late apex instead of a double (early and late) apex. I feel it works better for this big heavy car the E9x is.
Then I "cut" and drive over those flat curbs (1:20ish in your video)

_turn 8A: you can use all the track and track out all the way to the left side of the track

_turn 10: I set up more to the left, apex, then track out more to the left

As for when is the right time to turn off DSC; only you can answer that question I would say when you are comfortable enough and feel it is really slowing you down.

Next time try to get you in the video. I don't know the track (just tv) but seeing how you react and handle the car is probably more important at your level than the line and lap times.

That would be the only way I think you can get honest advice about you handling the DSC job.

+1. I usually put my go pro behind the driver's window on the outside. I've found that you need to about at least 1/3 of the way up the window or you get a nice shot of your side view. You can see your hands, head, and where you are on the track. I've learned a lot from watching my own videos.

And if I'm not sleepy, I'll be out cold after about 10 minutes of watching track videos.

Nice video forced03. I would second the suggestions kaiv made.
