Is it safe to drive?
Car went into limp mode. I will read the codes later today but i need to know if i can drive back to work (2 miles away) or need to call Uber. Any idea, what it could be by the way?

Throttle actuators. You'll be able to drive for a bit. Eventually you'll get limp mode every time you start the car. Time to order some new throttle actuator replacements.

I suspected that... Oh well, whatever. Do you have any experience with the once with upgraded gears?

I actually have 2 rebuilt actuators on the way from rebuild.org.uk that I plan to install once they arrive. AFAIK just upgrading the gears won't always solve the problem and new ones from BMW won't solve it either!

Check out M Power Motorsports. $360 for each remanufactured TA, rebuilt to better than new. Faster turnaround than using UK rebuild.

M Power Motorsports actually source their parts from rebuild.org.uk, but it's a lot more convenient for us guys in North America.

+1. Another possibility (among many) is brake pressure sensor, need to pull codes to tell for sure or its just a guessing game.

If you're worried about turn around time I know jason at rebuild does do deposits where he sends you new throttle actuators before you send your old ones that way you can replace them right there on the spot. Once he receives your old actuators he will return the deposit.
Haven't used the other place not sure if they do this or not. |

Those were not the exact codes I ran into, but from my research on this forums, it seems that there are several codes that can be thrown. If throttle actuator is on any of the code(s), then it's usually the culprit.
I wouldn't take my word 100% though and continue to ask others for validation. |

Yep, now that you've pulled the codes. Looks like a set of actuators are in your future.

just a quick update. Decided to clear the codes and start the car today. Started up fine, ran a little bit rough due to not moving for like 4 days. 1-2 minutes later while idling went into limp mode. Pull the codes and its the same P210A Throttle Actuator 'B' blah blah blah (you can find a picture of it above). Looks like i am ordering some actuators on Monday. Any more input on this?
